I need palooka-ville. It was love at first sight from the art, I revived a category in my notes app called ‘human’ where I wrote a couple paragraphs about my want before even reading some text you showed. Then you described me at the end as an outsider desperate to understand. Im drunk, sorry for spamming your comment section on a beautiful video.

Strangehaven is an all time favorite of mine, shame that Millidge hasn't finished. I know the fourth arc was serialized in "Meanwhile...", but even doesn't lead to any meaningful culmination. You're absolutely correct though that just reading what is out so far is good enough on its own.

1:14 Aha, Kane! I have the first volume. I was introduced to Paul Grist's work through a Hellboy story he illustrated for Mike Mignola called "The Visitor: How & Why He Stayed" and fell in love with his artwork. Unfortunately, I've been having a real hard time trying to get the other collected volumes of Kane. Hopefully my luck will change. Good video, mate. I'd love to see more reading list vids in the future. Always happy to learn more about titles I haven't heard about.

@carlgibson2856 күн бұрын
100% agree about Kane. I picked up almost a full run from the discount bin at my local comic-book store and I read them all in one sitting. Great stuff! Plus, Paul Grist is just an all round good egg. I've bumped into him a few times since he lives in my home city and we have friends in common, and he's always been a delight to talk to.

It's good to go off the grid every once in a while. Now where's that Casper the Friendly Ghost episode? And Bizarre sex! We want Bizarre Sex! ( Actually, just follow your interests. Although, no lie, series that have done a Harvey Comics episode DO get big viewer response).

Ice Cream Man can go on indefinitely! In the same way The Twilight Zone didn't depend on a larger narrative. Though I wouldn't mind the creators revealing more of the mythology that wraps the series.
@CinemaSeven6 күн бұрын
Been working through ElfQuest, the first 2 volumes were great but volume 3 has been a bit of a slog. Still a worthwhile read. Queen and Country was a title I enjoyed until I discovered where Greg Rucka dug ideas, and even plots, from, The Sandbaggers. After discovering that it gave me a bitter taste in my mouth. Still a good spy series, but I would recommend Sandbaggers if you can find the show.
@StrangeBrainParts4 күн бұрын
I'd also suggest The Sandbaggers. It is very good, if you can find it. Sadly, only two season as the creator and main writer disappeared. True story!
@CinemaSeven4 күн бұрын
@ there’s actually 3, but the third one was unfinished because of his disappearance. I own all three. His story is also super interesting and the conspiracies about his disappearance could make a good video.
@StrangeBrainParts3 күн бұрын
Oh, my mistake. From what I understood there was only two seasons and the third season was completely unproduced due to his disappearance.

@sensereference22276 күн бұрын
Without going into too many spoilers, I don't think Ice Cream Man is the kind of series that can ever have a true resolution because of what that character represents.

I don't understand why American Flagg is so highly praised.
@StrangeBrainParts6 күн бұрын
The first twelve issues are a pretty solid story. But what gets it the praise is the design of each page and how such a dense mixture of images and text flow together intuitively. If I ever do the next Comics 101 video, I'll have more of an explanation in it. I also believe I go in-depth about it in another video. I think.
