Interested in books about the architecture and history of the Dakota, Friar Park, and Tittenhurst Park? I've written a bunch about them. You can find all of them on Amazon and elsewhere. Buying my books helps support my research and productions. Thank you! tinyurl.com/DakotaHistoryCardinal

Pattie was as beautiful inside as outside. She deserved to be treated so much better than George or Eric treated her. Glad third time was the charm.

So well done, thank you very much! Had to laugh at 2:35 "the owner did not want to sell the estate to a _pop_ star..." _ROCK_ star Jimmy Page, okay, but not just a pop star. :) (Yes, after a few owners in between, okay...)

@StrangeHistory, I’ve often wondered if Pattie left any of her favorite antiques/artwork, etc behind when she left. It must’ve been difficult to leave the place that she helped lovingly restore. Friar Park has so many hidden and not so hidden treasures. Has she ever told you what her favorite part of the mansion or grounds she loved the most?

You skipped over the fact that George pressured Pattie into wife-swapping with some mutual friends of theirs, then he had cheated on Pattie with Ringo's wife, which led to Ringo divorcing his wife and Pattie divorcing George. This was the last straw according to Pattie. She then moved on to Eric Clapton who also cheated on her and had a child with another woman while married to Pattie.

Roz , I felt bad for her because I think she went to quite a bit . And later Eric Clapton said he never loved her ... sad .
@rozchristopherson648
@rozchristopherson648 2 жыл бұрын
@@gardensofthegods Yes. I heard Clapton say he “was obsessed with her.” But he did not state that he loved her. Also, Clapton said he never made love to a woman sober until he was well into his 40s and went through rehab. So that would mean that he was always under the influence during his intimate times with Pattie. During their marriage, Pattie went through a lot of fertility treatments (hormone injections, etc.) trying to conceive as she neared 40. Then Clapton cheated on her and had a child with a 20 year old model. Sadly, that is the child Conor that fell from a 50 story apartment building window.

The mansion has always been very mysterious. I remember as report that was indicating that the home had 200 rooms. What??? Now someone explain to me about the fictional 200 rooms please. Can’t be right, can it?? So much has been written.. Before I die, I’d just like to know. The truth please. Such a cool place for George and Olivia. Patti wasn’t there that long. Thanks.

I visited Friar Park in 196; my blood sister( Scottish) was a Novice Sister with the Salesian Order of Don Bosco.( Italian) . They devoted their lives to the education and social wellbeing of young people in need of guidance. I do remember that the house was impressive and smelled of furniture polish: the grounds were beautiful: the building with quirky light switches (Monks faces in brass; the nose being the " on off" switch. The sisters loved to point out this feature in high amusement. I was told some years later that Geo.H. had purchased Friar Park with some guidance given by the previous owners as to the complexities of the Estate . Spirituality was possibly the reason he bought it as one of the first photos i saw (taken with his permission), was of two iconic framed pictures of Buddha resting on an armchair and Jesus (Sacred heart) on another, in the reception Hall . This photo was taken during his moving in period, before any alterations. Hope this is helpful from Glasgow Scotland. PS My sister spent 30 + years in the east end of London dedicated to the young people of Bermondsey, Southwark. Her Mantra "You are young; You are precious; You are loved.

Renovations/restorations potentially/typically make u more money. If u ever had to sell it it'd be worth more than when u had it. Which is the name of the game in the world of home owning. It's not like you're doing the work. You hire specialists which boosts the economy as well.

Beautiful, intelligent, stylish & gentle Pattie had everything ....except fertility. Even in the 20th & 21st Centuries, even an important woman's long-term desireability often hinges upon fertility.... Sad, but true+
