Of all the gangs in RDR2, the Night Folk scare me the most. It took me a few playthroughs before I willingly went into the swamps at night. I've only ever come across the crying lady and very occasionally the dead horse encounter. I always kill the woman, and keep well away from the horse.

years later STILL learning stuff about this game. That’s absolutely insane how much detail rockstar put into this. I have HOURS in the story mode alone and knew about the night folk but had no idea about the shrunken head.

@@amberkinney6118 A long time. Ive played rdr2 from start to finish 16 times. Not rushed play throughs either. I can check and see how many hours it is exactly but its a lot more than just a few. Ive played it almost every day since it released

I remember coming across that crying woman the very first time I entered the swamps (it was night by the time I showed up) and it scared the hell out of me so bad cause I had zero prior warning that the nightfolk even existed (and if I did I may not have paid too much attention to it) and I tried to just run for it cause I panicked SUPER hard only to run right into the hanged man somewhere down the road and getting ambushed TWICE yeah I tried to keep out of the swamps as much as possible for a while

I would like to see the ambushes through a free roam camera. To see where the Night Folk hide/spawn. They always appear out of nowhere when you trigger an event.

Just look around nearby trees and bushes before interacting with whatever triggers the attack

They're always hiding behind trees within a few yards of the ambush triggers, and you can listen to figure out if they're near. Those whistles and mouth clicks are them.

You can see where they spawn with expanded minimap. If you don't interact with the ambush‐triggering event, you'll notice they're not lying in wait; just like with lawmen, they'll spawn in places you can't see. For the Nightfolk, this means they pop up behind trees. It's possible they can spawn in the open, as long as the camera is facing the other direction, but I've never paid enough attention to notice if that can happen.

Yup, my horse ran away from me during the encounter with the horse in the cart, and they killed her. When she ran away I saved and quit the game not realizing what was happening, and I loaded back in to an empty saddle. Total bruh moment. It was the first and only time I had my horse die, other than the end of chapter 6.

Just started another play through recently, and went all throughout lagras to try to get in the “Halloween spirit” this year; this game can be just as spooky and even downright terrifying as a game like tLoU, specifically when it comes to the nightfolk, butcher creek stuff, annesburg. Gotta love Rockstar!

When Albert the photographer was taking pictures of gators. I was on my way to greet him. I road by the hanging man, I stopped to look but kept going. I didn't know I triggers them. I got close to Albert, he started running away. I thought a gator scared him. The night folk followed me that's why he ran away. 😂

I wish there were more Nite Folk encounters and that random encounters could repeat. Once you finish all five of them they’re completely gone from the game. I don’t get why Rockstar didn’t make Lakay a gang hideout where you could wipe them out again and again like other gang hideouts, or maybe it was cut content.

Strange is a Dev. If not for Rdr2 (which with the sheer amount and detail of his vids is likely) a developer of other games. Ya know out of all of the Rival Gangs in red dead redemption two the night folk are the most Barbaric and their also very territorial as they literally killed one of the Murfree brood’s members and this just adds to their terror as they simply don’t care who their attacking all they want to do is spilled blood in the name of their gods and this is why they don’t show up in the Rival Gangs section they are simply too terrifying and nobody’s dares to document them down due to them being ya know sick sons of guns that are psychopaths to their core Plus they only add to the swamps and lemoynes terrifying legends

Rdr3 should be played from a Native warrior perspective. 1860s... Western expansion happening. Young warriors that don't want to give up the land or make raw deals that aren't followed through on, they meet and save a Black escaped slave and adopt him into their tribe. He becomes one of them and lives with them and believes in the fight. The rich bastards trying to buy them off for peanuts then giving them shells instead. They had a few big wins before they were outnumbered so badly. A Custards Last Stand type of battle. Then they get Overrun by numbers... Finish with a trail of tears like removal to new lands, then an epilogue. The ex-slave takes the name Smith as a surname. He marries a woman from the tribe and lives with them. Charles Smith's Origin story! I'd play that game. Rockstar of course would add so much more to my 5 to 10 sentences... Go back another generation... Why not? Thanks to all for reading my comment!
