That black smoke which possessed Will did not go back to the Shadow Monster, it simply disappeared in the sky. To me, it means that part of the Shadow Monster stays in Hawkins and probably is possessing someone, what explains why the Mind Flayer can watch 11 from the Upside Down with the portal closed. I guess that smoke is possessing someone close to the characters, like the nerd teacher, Mr. Clarke. I'm 70% sure we'll see references to "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and "Carrie"

Honestly I love the show but Eleven/Jane and the boys relationship and chemistry is what made the first season so damn good to me. I loved their interactions and while I do understand Eleven and her past needed to be touched on, personally I felt they dragged out her and the boys reunion for too long. Just my opinion but either way I love the show and while it wasn't as good as season 1 it's still one of the best shows I've seen imo and I can't wait for season 3!

I like that Mike and eleven weren't front and center this season and that Will played a much bigger role as well as the other boys. They're all amazing actors I just felt that a big part of what made the first season so great was the groups connection and developing friendship. Eleven not being reunited with them until the finale was to long a wait in my own personal opinion. I still enjoyed season 2 overall I would have just liked to see Eleven meet up with the boys sooner.

Hart hat If I remember correctly the scientists that went into the dragon's lair were led into a trap by Will(Shadow Monster) so although they were better suited for battle the Shadow Monster was also prepared for them while when the kids went into the lair the Shadow Monster was not aware of them and all the Demo-Dogs were outside. This left the lair empty and perfect for a sneak attack.

I have a similar theory, slightly different though. First off, 8. 8 Tries to reach out to 11 with her mind, being much weaker and with much different psychic skills, it will take her a while to get her mind into the "Void" (which i think, rather than being a space between dimensions like some theories suggest, is rather a visual representation of the psychic in questions telepathy). During this time 11 will be trying to ignore her mental abilities, and try and fit into being a normal kid, she will be Homeschooled (being missing a good 5-7 years of schooling, shes smart dont get me wrong, but not smart enough that she will pick up all the schooling she would need to go to Highschool within a year) by Wills mum, who becomes a stay-at-home mother once Hopper and her get together (its inevitable). She will be getting repeated dreams of Brenner, probably saying the word "Eleven" (which is actually 8 trying to reach out to her, but she doesnt know this and sees it as Brenner), causing her to become even more repulsed by her abilities, giving her a sort of "should i embrace who i am or not" story line for the first few chapters of the series. As you said, Max, Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will will be going to Highschool now, this isnt essential to the plot but will be used to flesh out their characters a bit more, hopefully with emphasis on Lucas, Mike and Max as they really need some fleshing out. Jonathan, Nancy, Hopper, and maybe the conspiracy theorist dude from Season 2 (cant remember his name now) will somehow uncover something else at Hawkins lab, weather its a paper trail to the remaining test subjects or something else, i dont know, but i do think that there are mysteries left at Hawkins lab that need to be uncovered, Hopper will be very reluctant about pursuing this as it could put 11 at risk of being taken again by the government. Back to 8. 8 will eventually enter the Void, not finding 11, but rather the Mind Flayer also probing the void in search of 11, and a way back into our plane of existence. The Mind Flayer will Possess 8, in a much more complete way than it did with Will, gaining access to all 8's memories and augmenting her powers. However, it learns that even by Augmenting 8's power with its own, it still isnt strong enough to open another gate, only 11 having that much power, leading it to go in search of her, perhaps using 8's illusionist abilities to infiltrate the government and eventually track her to Hawkins. 11 and some of the rest of the kids (depending on how they decide to do it) as well as Steve, will be running from the Government again. 11 Encounters the possessed 8 in the guise of Brenner, in a successful attempt to mentally paralyze 11, forcing the kids and Steve to escape without her. 11 in captivity is in a mental battle with the currently unknown 8, who keeps forcing old memories of her time at Hawkins lab to resurface, in an attempt to cause enough mental trauma for her to lash out at the disguised Mind Flayer with enough energy to re-open the Gate, which again succeeds, though differently than you would think. Her anger at the "bad men" is pretty much depleted, her hatred for the upside down doesnt have direction because she doesnt know that the Mind Flayer is possessing 8. Her main anger now is with herself, for dragging people she loves into these problems, for causing the deaths of so many when she opened the gate, and causing mike and the rest so much pain due to multiple things. She channels this, and her new hatred for "Brenner", directing it at Brenner/8/The Mind Flayer, Opening a new gate, mortally wounding 8, and because of the self hatred, damaging her own brain extensively. She awakens to see 8 near death on the ground, not realizing what happened. 8, now free of possession uses the last of her power to give 11 a vision of what happened (8 reaching out to 11, being possessed by the Mind Flayer, the Mind Flayer taking over the government and making 11 open a new gate). 8 then dies, leaving 11 alone and weak in the facility where she is held (Perhaps Hawkins lab, perhaps elsewhere). A few hours before this happens Steve and the kids meet up with Hopper, Nancy and Jonathan (the conspiracy dude left to do something) and what happened gets explained to Hopper, who conveniently found evidence of massively increased activity or something at the facility where 11 is, goes there and finds 11 and the new gate. 11 is taken somewhere to rest so that she can try and close the gate again, but... theres a problem. She no longer has strong enough powers. No matter how hard she tries, she cant do more than make things shudder when she tries to move them, and can no longer enter the void. Her self hatred being directed damaged her brain in key psychic areas, leaving her powers a shadow of their former strength. Nancy, Jonathan, Hopper and other dude's Paper trailing leads them to about 4 more Psychics, scattered about the country thanks to the asylums no longer really accepting new mental patients or whatever because of Reagan. Throughout the whole Season, the Season 2 head of Hawkins Lab (cant remember this guys name either, sorry) is in a political battle with 8 (in the guise of some political opponent that 8 knew of) for control over his part of the government, eventually leading him to be forced out so that the Mind Flayer can take over. With 8 now dead he takes it back and uses its power to try to slow the growth of the new gate. And this is where the season ends, 11 is virtually powerless for the moment. Hopper has a long road ahead of him finding the rest of the Psychics. The government is doing its best to slow the growth of the Gate, but its still slowly growing, they cant do anything about it for the moment, and now they have a deadline before the Mind Flayer can start influencing our dimension, being about 6-12 months. Season 4 would be about Hopper finding the 4 psychics. 11 slowly healing mentally with help from the rest of the kids, "becoming whole" again, and teaching the 4 psychics how to harness their powers with Control and Discipline, rather than Rage. The 5 of them collectively having to face off against the Mind Flayer once it has passed into our dimension during winter (maybe it overran the Facility with monsters or something, causing 11 to not be able to get near the gate and close it), with help from the rest of the characters. Will gaining some form of Power might be a thing, and helping them, him personally dealing the finishing blow. But thats just a theory, a STRAAAAANGE Theory. (jesus that took 2 and a half hours to write)

I thought in the episode “The Spy,” Bob was going to be revealed as a spy from Hawkins. Sometime during the year time skip he was assigned to get close to Joyce, and eventually become a couple. But this would have been for Bob to watch over Will and his symptoms from season one up close and first hand, reporting everything back to Hawkins. This would have made his death justified, because Joyce would have later been shocked to learn of who he was! At the same time though, I’m glad he wasn’t a spy and just genuinely a good person.

They hate heat but the Demogorgon actually came out during the day. Nancy first spotted it during the day as she was searching for Barb. The Demodogs are subservient to the Mind Flayer while the Demogorgon was an independent creature. The demodogs don't respond to the presence of blood like the Demogorgon.

I do think that the fact that she is "Eleven" most definitely implies that the other patients will play a role of some kind in future seasons. The 'Lost Sister' certainly points to that possibility. It certainly means that there are at least nine more out there somewhere. I guess we'll see how that all plays out.

I think your theory about El and the crew searching for other test subjects in the next season to destroy the mind flayer makes sense. Hopper asked in this season how to destroy the mind flayer. Dustin answered "You summon an undead army". I think that this references to what you said. If the mind flayer takes it self back to our world via Brenner and another test subject, then the crew including El will search for other test subjects to build an army of people with powers just like El to stop the mind flayer, because of D&D. Some of them may be Kali and Terry. It could also be some of these missing kids that we saw on articles when El tried to find Kali when she was at her mothers house. One of the members in the army could be Sarah, because I don't think she's dead. I mean, the lab has done many things for covering up their tracks, like they made that fake body of Will for covering up that he had been taking to the Upside Down. This could be one them. Like if Kali was there in the room when Sarah "died", then she could have made Hopper and his wife idk, see that Sarah died, when she actually was just taking for mind experiments at the lab. Then if Brenners test subject, 012 or 013, will join that army somehow, than he or she, on Brenners command, will betray them, and there by taking El back to Papa. It's just a theory, but I think it connects to what you said.

If you think about, some of the problems of season 2, like Will being “possessed” by the shadow monster where caused by Bob. He told Will to stand and fight his fears. So, Will does, by standing his ground against the shadow monster. So, if Will just kept running he might have been able to stay away from the shadow monster, at least a little while longer. So you could say Seasons 2’s major problem of Will being “possessed” was caused by Bob.

Thought the same thing, but, that dimension isn't parallel, fisical objects appear there without anyone to put them there(the ABCs on the wall with the lights for instance), and it works differently for certain things for instance trees being living things still appear to grow parallel on every universe and cars and some other physical objects arent there. So it's a bit iffy but there's still more seasons so time will tell
