I think the general audience hasn't been totally clued in yet about this queer love story that's honestly pretty central to the show's story, because it's central to two of the main characters (Mike and Will). idk we'll see! Hopefully the duffers pull it off, because it does seem like this is pretty clearly where they're going with it.

I like their ship and Will pining for Mike, it's adorable, but from what I've seen in s4 the focus on Mike's feelings, his pov - it was barely there, but from Will's perspective he looks so clueless and I hardly believe something Will-related was going on in his head, but I also refuse to believe Mike and El are meant to be together: remember that case in el's room dedicated to Mike? i almost audibly gasped when I saw that, if you worship your bf like some idol this is an unhealthy relationship, and not only for you. So IMO, if writers wanted, they could make Mike anything in season 5, there's still hope, but I am getting ready for the "Will discovering his sexuality" arc, not the "Will and Mike love story"

If he didn't, he wouldn't have acted so cold about it (he would never say no to Will's art and that's canon, he has a literal binder full of it). He thought it wasn't for him, and got jealous.

I do think El and Mike love each other. But they've grown up, and the romantic love just isn't there anymore. On both sides. I dont think El loves Mike romantically, either. With her losing her dad and the isolation and the loneliness, she clings to Mike. I think in the 5th season, Mike is going to have to pull Will from the dark side. The speech he gives Will, will be much more emotionally satisfying. When he talks to El, when she's in the upside down, was like a child explaining love. When he saves Will from the dark side it will be like a man saving someone he is in love with.

Most of the people I know, REALLY seem to dislike Wolfhard's performance in the 4th season. Be it people in my circle who watch the show, or other fans on different social medias, their main criticism is that he is WAY too detached in the season and it damages his dynamic with El. Initially, that was my stance as well. Compared to the other kids(especially the massive growth and maturity seen in Caleb McLaughlin's brilliant performance), he seemed to have gotten worse. However, I am now wondering if these overlooked understated moments with Will are leading us to somewhere. Seeing this videos, I am genuinely asking myself what if Mike is supposed to be queer as well..... IF this is the case when we find out in season 5, then Finn Wolfhard deserves a lot of credit for making it believable, cause the amount of backlash that she got on social media for his acting, it would actually make up for that.

I honestly believe that Mike loves el but like not in that way anymore. He’s liked will since the beginning and is too afraid to tell el that he doesn’t really love her anymore because he’s afraid he’ll break her heart and hurt her really bad. Also I don’t like the concept of Mike and el because I notice El treats Mike horribly, for example: he lied to her bc hopper threatened him in s3 and when he tried to give her context she didn’t listen to him and she dumped him, he cares about her a lot but it doesn’t seem like she does. Another example is when el lied at the roller rink, once will told him, he tried his best to save her from Angela. 7:31 interesting little thring i noticed, and I have no idea if you pointed it out lol. But see how the vines are tightening around her still, like you would expect them to loosen like it did for Max. But it instead tightening her further, and was whimpering due to the force. The only way she got out was about thinking of her best moments, which STRANGELY, revolves around Max, mainly as well with her relationship with Jonathan and Will. I can’t even remember seeing at the very most two scenes of Mike and her. There could’ve been more or some, and I just didn’t see it. But it’s just strange.
