Marigold or Prayer Position might have been a better intro to Periphery for some nasty grooves
@Guitarlife174 жыл бұрын
Charles Trentham prayer position for sure. Nolly bass cover video bro that’s the one
@HugoStiglitz88 Жыл бұрын
Dude hell no. Prayer position is lame as hell, that not a good groove at all and it's the worst song on that album by far. Marigold is also just a straight up metal song. Sounds more like 80s metal than periphery or groove metal. There is no groove in that either dude If you want a groove, heavy heart, garden in the bones, or icarus lives would all be much better. Fuck marigold and prayer position. 2 worst songs on the album and people are always mentioning em. I'm sick of it.

Yes!! I'm a black metalhead guy. I've been a metalhead for over a decade, and I've been listening to Periphery since 2010.

The lyrics are usually vague and cryptic but the singer explained what it's about. It's on a double album that tells 1 story about a kid who is raised in a satanic cult. They have him do horrible things, he eventually leaves the cult, but he has such a hard time in the real world he goes back to the cult. He falls in love with a priestess who was being held captive by them. They kill her and he loses it, goes on a killing spree before rhe cultists kill him. He then is in hell, finds his way through it and TL:DR THIS SONG is about him escaping from hell. That's why the Hadean seal is mentioned (I think)
@timpalmer22164 жыл бұрын
The two albums this is the conclusion of are about a man getting sucked into a satanic(ish) cult and essentially losing his mind and being completely consumed by it. Towards the end of the concept he dies and goes to hell, this song is essentially the character repenting & begging for forgiveness for his sins. He's given a second chance & ascends back to earth.
@HugoStiglitz88 Жыл бұрын
Well it's a bit more than just losing his mind. He left the cult, but hated the real world so he went back. They put him on guard duty kinda as a punishment and he meets a priestess they had locked up. He fell in love with her and helps her escape. She dies in the escape (he didn't know she was just manipulating him) and THATs when he loses his mind, goes on a rampage against the cult, and they eventually kill him. He ends up in hell and finds a way to escape. Stranger things is the escape.

Alright bro. I’m gonna be real with you. You seem like you’re slowly creeping into rock and metal, but I don’t want you to get taken down any wrong paths. From what it seems like you like a solid groove, synchronized drums and guitar, with not too much screaming, but meaningful lyrics. I highly recommend you listen to Tesseract bro. They have everything you’re looking for I can promise you that. Check out “singularity” by “TesseracT. 1000% worth your time homie. Love the content bro keep it up.

Alright, so Periphery isn't just progressive metal, making it kinda hard to understand for the average listener, but this band mastered (and designed) like the advanced version of that shit. Don't worry if you find yourself having a hard time finding a groove or following what the hell is going on. It takes a while before you can fully appreciate this, which should be amazing news. After all, bands like these will most likely grow on you as you become more experienced with the genre. It will allow you to enjoy certain types of music more and more as you get older. I sure as hell noticed it.

Hey brother! I just found you and love your reactions! I would love for you to react to a song entitled "The Signal Fire" by Killswitch Engage! Just a quick backstory, Killswitch's lead singer (Jesse Leach) was their original lead singer from over 20 years ago. The black guy (Howard Jones) who comes in and sings was his replacement after just two albums. They've released over 7 albums. He left the band and the original lead singer came back for the last two albums, and for this one song, the two singers sing together, and no one knew until this video came out, and it's an absolutely amazing song! And I know you love drums, you are going to love this!!!!!
@HugoStiglitz88 Жыл бұрын
That's not true. We didn't need the video to know it was Howard and Jesse, I could tell the second I listened to it But great song and a great band. Even tho tbh atonement is one of my least favorite albums. Alive or Just Breathing is the GOAT tho

This album in particular is a conceptual album, therefore, you should listen to it from start to finish. Also, there's a FAQ video where spencer (the singer) explains the history of the album.

@ryanhalien84684 жыл бұрын
Yeah this is prog Metal :) prog can be a little dense to approach to begin with lots of transitions and strange time signatures, very technical, but they’re fantastic when you develop a taste for it. I freaking love periphery, the band is incredible, in my opinion this song isn’t a good representation of them, it’s good, but they can do soooo much better, give “Omega” by them a try
@funnyperson40274 жыл бұрын
Song is from a concept album it’s the last song it’s ok there’s no way you would understand it without context
@jessemace75894 жыл бұрын
I know it a oittle off and hard but Spencer sotelo has the best voice. Those growls the high pitch screaming the cleans and soulful blues high Mariah Carey notes. And u know u love some bad ass drums.

Honestly, the lyrics would make no sense without listening to the entire concept album. The lyrics and music in "Stranger Things" are like reprises from the rest of the album, so it can sound disjointed when taken out of context. Listen to "Alpha" and "22 Faces" off of that album, as they can stand on their own.

"I don't like the vocals" This is the the biggest complaint against Metal music. If you want to enjoy Metal as a nonMetalhead, just imagine that the vocals are like one of the instruments. There are lyrics, but the sound is just instrumentation like the guitars, drums and keys. Listen to it like that and you will have no problems absorbing this kind of stylism.
@Posirep4 жыл бұрын
As far as Periphery songs go....easily their most overrated song. It's a fine song but compared to what this band can do, it's pretty meh....especially given the track before this "Omega" completely blows this song out of the water.
@ryanhalien84684 жыл бұрын
InvisibleTeeth yes exactly, never got the hype around this one, it’s good, pretty much everything periphery does is, but man, Omega is DOPE
