If you remember in an earlier episode I think El AND Will say that he is HIDING! So the monster cant find him until the end of episode 7. Where you can see that Will is indeed HIDING in his fort in the alternative universe. Which is the same spot in the woods that both Joyce and Jonathan go when they are first looking for Will. Barb is cocooned and being eaten alive because the monster found her right away. In fact that thing that crawls out of her mouth suggests that she is being used as an incubator orrrrr being turned into another monster maybe. While WIll has only been cocooned for a short time.
