A Christmas Story was released November of 1983, the same exact month when Season 1 of Stranger Things takes place. Maybe Will saw the film before going to The Upside Down. And given that Stranger Things is an homage to the 1980s, it makes perfect sense to draw comparisons to an '80s classic. I hope you all enjoyed this parody! I know it's incredibly obvious, but no, we are not sponsored by a 1940's Ovaltine decoder ad.
