There's actually quite a few guys in the league like this. I remember watching Dallas and several of their players had what amount to a single strip of tape at the top of their twigs. You should peep Pastrnak and his tape job on his twig. Absolutely the laziest, most legendary tape job.

I don’t think cutting the top part of the tongue is that weird, it’s the small piece that gets tucked under shin pad or sock. Kinda makes sense to cut it and have less bulk and no binding

I hates the tongue of my skates, all i need was my heel locked in and all my speed comes from, my skates not movng and my ball behind my toes. The tongue always got in the way of my shin guards, i use to cut my shin guards. No one makes it but I would love a low cut skates with ankle move abilities

i understand cutting the tongue of the skate. This skate is actually a little on the high side compared to some other skates. And sometime the shin pad gets in the way with the skate. The butt end not having any nob tells me aggressive poke checking is just not in his game play. Stick would go flying for me.

A kid in my highschool hockey team in MN didn’t tape his knob and he got hit and the stick stabbed him in the arm pit all the way through, he missed an artery by millimeters. It is now a requirement here to have a knob or to tape a knob on your stick.
