Fantastic list! I noticed Johnny Cueto's unique style before he joined our Royals. We called it, "rocking the baby". He pitched a complete game in the World Series and helped us win a Championship!!💙👑🤍 A big hat tip to all the amazing Pitchers on this list!

Marichal had the craziest pitching windup I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how he could pitch so accurately with that insanely high leg kick. But he did.

Ben Webber of the Angels had a truly weird wind up and delivery. Like he’s pumping up for power.

How could Gene Garber possibly not be on this list? His windup looked more like some exotic martial arts movement than a pitching motion.

I still don't understand how Carter Capps wasn't called for Balking every time. For that matter, I have the same question about Nestor Cortes.
@woobackwednesday2299 Жыл бұрын
AFAIK you can't balk if there's no one on base which is why Cueto and Cortes can boogie all they want in that case

Lincecum's delivery looks so violent in slow motion. I had a poster of Arroyo while he was with the Red Sox, and of course his photo was with his leg up like on a 45 degree angle

Nice compilation! I always enjoyed Hisashi Iwakuma's double hitch windup, if you ever make a sequel.
@dfboiler Жыл бұрын
nice! i learned to pitch like Feller and Gibson with the arm swing sometimes more than one, even back in the early 80’s that was considered old school. the yankees brought the no windup to baseball in the 70’s for “efficiency of movement”. do you need all the other movement, NO. but it sure is easier to promote proper sequence and timing with it.

Couple of thoughts. 1. Seeing Kershaw, I am reminded of Ron Guidry. Not exactly the same, but comparable. 2. Bruce Sutter. 3. Gene Garber

Ok, Ninja, not bad. But the funkiest motion I remember was a lefty on the Expos in the 70s by the name of Chris Welsh. Looked like a tin man collapsing every time he started his wind up. Loved me some Gene Garber, too.

Makes me wonder who Robert Redford patterned his delivery after in "The Natural". It was my first thought when watching the Juan Marichal delivery, but I thought the same thing looking at Warren Spahn.

I always thought Nomo looked so cool pitching. Why don't pitchers really wind up the way they used to? I forget which pitcher for Boston a few years back had that old time windup.

I remember Ryan Madson when he was a rookie in 2004 had a very violent leg kick. It was effective, but he definitely changed it by 08

There'll be even fewer of those around with the pitch clock! I wonder if pitchers will have time to shake off pitches anymore especially if pitchcom malfunctions and they can't hear anything. Such a big advantage for the batter...

Great stuff. Like most viewers, I knew who most of these would be before watching. Really not a good clip of Arroyo, as his left leg was typically 100% vertical.

Haven't they said Capps' is a balk? Because he uses those little stutter-steps to get like 2 or 3 extra feet off the bag before actually releasing the ball?
