I listened to them in the seventies. They matured from an angry new wave band into the band that played Golden Brown/always the sun, etc.My favourite band from the punk/ new wave era.

Yes we always need the sun, without it there would be no life. When the sun shines on the world the world for a moment becomes a happier place, it brings warmth and comfort to those who might be feeling sad, hurt and lonely.

Yes it is perfect. How on Earth it only got to number 30 in the UK chart when cr*p like the Chicken Song got to number 1 is beyond me. People have no taste.

I’m so sorry that you lost your father ❤️‍🩹 This song is one of my father’s favorite songs also, we actually engraved his stone with “Always the sun” and also played it in his funeral and in my wedding in honor of him. Our father’s has great taste in music. Lots of hugs to you ❤️

Yo, Agree with you there mate. And that from an Irish man. Mr Boyle had it right when he showcased Brit music in the fab finale of the 2012 Olympics. This music will be remembered 500 years from now and beyond..if we are still around. It was a renaissance...music of a free people. As for this song, I love it as a "fuck it all" song after a hard year before I head off to Spain ...when you take your power back.

Yes, spot on. I had a friend who was a busker and called Joe who played this beautifully and has now gone back to his country of origin - Portugal. I wish I had a photo of him. I gave him money and cried at the beauty of his guitar playing. He was so amazing. I did at least tell him that he was fantastic and that he. had made me happy for two years

There were so many great bands about in the late 70s early 80s. This is my favourite stranglers era and this song will always bring a smile to my face. On cold January and February nights just play this and you'll know spring is around the corner.

Well I'm 59 now (dear Lord how time flies) and am so pleased I was around and really enjoyed these guys, not to mention all the other ground breaking musical stuff emerging then ... sigh. Going to be 60 in July ... feeling very old looking back at these videos but I have great memories of being really young and free back then.

I was never into punk, but always liked the stranglers.. they were first and foremost great musicians, with an amazing back catalogue of songs. Hearing them again brings back so many memories.

I will always say people with real talent and sing like this are the ones that should provide the rest with musi. Talent you are BORN with, not learn it, simply doesnt work or sound right no matter what. My son was going to a festival a year or two ago. He was going through the bands playing and mentioned The Stranglers on Stage 3 etc, etc. , I laughed and told them I saw them live when I was about 16. He should go and see them When he came home he told me he went along and was amazed. He had never heard any thing like that before

One of my favorite bands had all their albums and singles rarerities etc saw them in concert numerous times personally I think one of the best British bands ever their music has stood the test of time now to listen to black and white as a tribute to Dave RIP

The drum intro, the tenor and brass in within 8 bars, beautiful vocals, harmonies and piano within 16. That killer soul voice, immediate and urgent lyrics, all done and finished in 180 seconds with the tragic story of the faultless Tony (Ralph) Clarke thrown in. Untouchable class.
