If you're going fast enough, it might not work that way. Certainly it doesn't work that way on a Hobie Cat, where the right response, if you're going fast, have one hull up and you feel like you're about to capsize, turning the other way helps immediately, though it's wise to ease the sheet. I don't know how fast this boat was going. To my eye, it looks like a light displacement boat which might be capable of great speed.
