They need to get the old whistle back - one that includes a higher note like the one you can hear in old videos (from 1994 for example) of NW611. This one, without that higher note, sounds like it has a touch of laryngitis by comparison. Otherwise a most magnificent engine!

You know I was thinking about that coming into the weekend, and I've seen the videos and heard it through that. Either way for me, I just excited to see the engine up close, I had never seen a steam locomotive this large under steam in my life before until that weekend.

@@MattProtrains 611 is the last of several copies of the model I guess. We're lucky to have at least one that not only didn't end up as scrap metal but still operates.

Never mind two, but three during most of the weekend with both 611, the 475 (this day 382) and #90 under steam. There are a few places where you can find two steam locomotives running on a daily basis, but seldom to find three of them in a day. This and a special charter on the Valley Railroad in Connecticut are the only times I've been to a place where there were three steam locomotives under steam. Thanks for the comment.
