I live less than 5miles as the crow flies, from Fairchild AFB. It is the biggest Strategic Command base in the U.S, since this was filmed 2 B52's have crashed there. Also a mass shooting occurred in the "90"s .An airman dropped the gunman who was carrying an AK 47, from 250 yard's away with a .45 acp😮

I had the pleasure of working for GEN Holloway at HQ SAC 1969-71. He was pure class.

The Air Force no longer has an active alert force anything like SAC had in the 1950’s - 1980’s. Today, only a handful of B-52’s and B-1’s remain from that era and none are on an alert status. If a nuclear missile attack against the USA was launched from either submarines or ICBM’s, USAF nuclear bombers would have insufficient time to respond and would be destroyed on the ground. The Air Force essentially relies on missiles, many of which are as old as the bombers. This is pretty much the same situation with the B-2’s. Curtis Lemay would be horrified at the complacency, obsolescence and size of the current Air Force. In his day, SAC was the most powerful deterrent against an attack on the United States.

Strategic Air Command had a military culture all it's own. There are stories that made these men almost as scary as Marines in terms of professionalism and resolve. They wanted to glass the Soviets sooo badly...

And the female hydraulic specialist replaces the high pressure line with a low pressure line, resulting in the longest landing rollout of a B-52D at Edwards.

U.S. Air Force B-52 bombers played a decisive role in the defense of Khe Sahn during the 1968 Tet Offensive in Vietnam. Round the clock high altitude bombing killed hundreds of North Vietnamese soldiers who had surrounded Khe Sahn.

The Navy should of sent a Representative to the award ceremony for the Air Force crew that saved 6 of their men!! I would have been pissed if I was an Air Force commander!!
