quantum mechanics (old QM) is suppose to be stared by the seminal paper by Planck in 1900. the new quantum mechanics is started after schrodinger's paper 1926 also called wave mechanics. so in UPSC add history with mathematics.

Physics is an evergreen subject . Standard of Examination Paper is almost same every year , if one is prepared and done our classes . Classes are of 250 hours duration . Every year We solve whole paper and we may or may not share the things on public platform.

Actually sir currently I'm persuing my bachelor's in physics from BHU and I have decided that I'll give civil services examination in future with physics optional. Because I have looked over the syllabus of physics optional and syllabus is more and less same. I think 75% of the syllabus is almost same what I have been studying during my graduation. It'll be better to have a fellow aspirant whose optional is same as mine. My attempting year will be 2026.
