Strategy of Mandar Patki, CSE 2019 (AIR 22) He is 24 years old, from Maharashtra & this was his first attempt. He prepared in Pune, came to Delhi only for interview. Joined a preparation program & took guidance, not formal coaching. Limited Resources, Maximum Revision - The Mantra Prelims Science & Tech - Current Affairs Polity - Laxmikanth Current Affairs - The Hindu Basic books suggested by many toppers. His booklist was also same. Made short notes & Revised multiple test and took many tests to know weakness and strengths. Mains Did answer writing in religious manner. Intro, Body, Conclusion format of answer. Suggestion- Focus on quality first and then focus on speed. Wisely devote time for each answer. You need to be mental tough, give your best and don't worry about things that are not in your hands. Interview DAF, the most important, strategically fill DAF. Clear knowledge of your study background & native place. Some question were asked from his background and Marathwada, as he is from Marathwada. His Optional was Anthropology Benefits of Anthro Many resources available. Good Scoring Crisp and clear syllabus Essay Read essays of previous years toppers and inculcate their good points in your answer as well. Did a good practice of essay before Mains. He resolved to have 3 year full preparation if not selected. Backup Plan: try banking exam & join startup of his friend. His suggestion is that you must have a backup plan since UPSC is most unpredictable exam. You will get success. All the very best for upcoming prelims!

Cleared in 1st attempt:- Polity - Lakshmikant Economics - sankar IAS Current affairs - the Hindu Short notes - multiple times revision Solved 60 sectional test & 40 comprehensive test (self analysis after each test) Syllabus wise crisp notes for mains Answer writing practice for mains 10marks questions - 7 min (writing time) and 15 marks questions in 11 mins with introduction, body and conclusion (it will come by repeatative practice) focus on quality, download answer paper from.toppers. DPA will come into play during your interview process (fill it wisely) Take criticism positively and respond rationally Choosen anthropology optional subject due to its scoring nature, availability of materials both online and off line, interesting subject, crisp syllabus that can be completed within 3 months Made notes for essays (read from essays by Vikram garaval Sir, Annu Kumari Madam, they used to gave very unique examples and quotes) Prepare some standard introductions and conclusions Started preparation with a mental setup to give 3 years for clearing UPSC All the best
