The first time I played journey I stuck with my journey partner till the end. When I saw their name I looked it up on steam and decided to messaged them. We are friends for over 3 years now and play games regularly. I owe the game an incredible experience and a dear friend.

Nice video! If you're interested in more games like Journey, some of the original developers went on to create a new studio called Giant Squid, and have made two games. ABZÛ is a spritual sequel to Journey, with a very similar mood - except it takes place beneath the sea. Wintory provided the soundtrack, too, and it's a magical mixture of solo oboe, choir, and 7(!) harps. Then there's The Pathless, best described as a 'playable myth', and once again features Wintory's work. The soundtrack is incredible, mixing instruments from around the world to create a sound of both "everywhere, and nowhere" - some highlights include a solo bass clarinet, Mongolian throat singing, and a 10-horn chorus.

Oh ya, I had ABZÛ too! I love that sort of thing.

The Pathless is an incredible game, sorta open-world vibes, lore elements, puzzles and cool mechanics (spirit vision 😳), big guardian-like bosses requiring stealth tactics, cool upgrades that are actually *useful*. I gotta return to that game soon 🤩

Here is something a lot of people don't know. If you are on your own, the music in different stages can be different. When you are on your own, there will be less lines than if you are with another player.

No, you’re right, the finale is something else entirely; it has references to each level you play through in the game (there’re 6), and those giant cloth creatures are essentially whales, the first of which you meet is in the tower before heading to the mountain. So rewarding after that chaotic climb. The music in the game can’t be altered or changed in any way because it’s an integral part of the game’s experience. You meet the flying metal creatures called Guardians, which are essentially those whales, but encased in these mechanical structures that will mess you up if they catch sight of you and you can’t avoid them at all! Thatgamecompany have a new game called Sky: Children of the Light, which has been out since 2019, and it’s an online multiplayer game focused on friendship and connection! 💖

@@StrateleStudios The cool thing about Journey these days is… it’s not PlayStation exclusive anymore; it’s on PC, iOS. I’ve been playing it on my iPad with an Xbox controller haha, incredible game. If you’re interested, the head of TGC, Jenova Chen, has some very interesting philosophies on his approach to creating games - you brought it up yourself in this video by saying shooting games, lots of violence, were all the rage at the time that Journey came about and Chen actually cites that as one of his reasons for creating a game like Journey (and this was on the back of fl0w and Flower!), he was going for a more intuitive/emotional approach and playing on the universal language of emotion, things like this. Guy’s a genius and he’s such a sweetheart! 💖 Thanks again Jeff, really appreciate this! 🙏🏻

I love this!! Such a great song and arrangement! Like all the voices, the flutes and the strings. Thank you for the request Matthew 🙂 I heard it with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Sabina Zweiacker, from the concert The Score. (Same concert as my request on Patreon with music from the game Megaman. A lot of great gaming music in that concert. Can really recommend it!)

This game and its music are stunning. I only played it last year and I was worried nobody played it anymore, because I would have missed on the collaborative aspect of the game, which is truly unique. I'm so glad people are still talking about this game. As an artist it's also really inspiring. I very rarely came across a game that made me feel things like this one did. The only I can think of is the game Gris. It also have stunning visuals and music, and the story portayed is amazing. I would recommend anyone who likes Journey to check it out

Popping back in here man, it’s been quite a while, and this was the very first reaction you did for me bro, nearly a year ago now 😳👀 I’ve watched this several times over said months and it got my crying every time lmfao. Not so much this time, but still pulled at my heartstrings in a way that I got flooded with emotions and memories of… why I’m still alive and how this game played a *fundamental* role in doing that for me in the first place… Thank you again Jeff, you didn’t have to do this and things might look a lot different today, but you caught me off-guard with this so I felt compelled to share something that would also say thank you in a more… emotional way hahaha!! 👀💖

@@StrateleStudios I’m glad man!! That’s a great question! I don’t have any “throwaways”. If within 15-30 seconds I get some sort of emotion charge then I commit to doing it. I think I’ve been pretty lucky so far!

Thank you for reacting to this beautiful piece from Journey - great suggestion from Matthew👍🏼💖. As I wrote to him in the comments, this game is my oldest daughters absolute favorite game of all times And the Only one, she would pick out for me, should I begin to play (again after many years😉)💜❤️ - because of the music, atmosphere and yes, the stunning art work! And You have played it, Jeff?! And enjoyed it including the music?!💜 Loved to hear about that, too, and it was touching to see memories coming back re. this universe❤️🤗. Ohh, the symphony orchestra playing this with the beautyful voices as well …. teary eyes and goosebumps over and over …… so many places, and with the cello/violin/trompet, choir, solos phew, many places and as a whole ….. love that🥺🙏🏼💜❤️💛. Btw. was that Peter Hollens spotted amongst the angelic voices?👀☺️Well, shouldn’t surprise me😄. Absolutely beautiful performed by The London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices🤩. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra has shared a lot of movies and games soundtracks as well (besides a lot of other great stuff) if interested and in this “department”👍🏼🤩. I think I will listen to Petras suggestions from Sweden as well - thank you, @Petra Ljungberg 😉👍🏼🤗. Well, that was a wonderful and heart touching “rabbit hole” to enjoy - thank you very much for that - hit home🙏🏼💜❤️🥰🤗.

Btw. : How could I forget about The William Blakes - again?!??🙄😅 Not re. symphony orchestras etc., but in the soundscapes they are creating! Very experimental and creative people and musicians in both their musical choices and lyric writing. “Caves And Light” - from the album “The Way Of The Warrior”/2010 (4:08 min.) - beautiful lyricwise as well imo. - at the end it always really get me and I tear up🖤🤍🥺😌🙏🏼💜💙💛⚡️🤍🙌🏼❤️🤗: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3KZgXZ9hdSeoZI Pyramids” - from the album “Purple Ball”/2014 (8:15 min.) - more spacy (no coinsidence), but amazing musicwise🙏🏼💜 and funny video recorded🤪😅(down to earth yet in the zone💜☺️😌): kzbin.info/www/bejne/noCmco1jYqZrbq8 In the former tv-music program “Backstage” 2 different groups/bands/artists were given 24 hours to find an integrated common ground and expression for a Live performance Together! (mostly based on their own best hits), but The William Blakes & Spleen United chose Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill”!!👀💜🥰. Dare you give their joint experiment and challenge a listen while baring in mind that ofcourse the two men/front singers of their bands are Not competing against Kates beautiful voice, but paying tribute in their own way and with their own colors?💎🙈😅😉: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqq4gJ6IbNZ3ibM
