One of my most memorable experiences was driving with my daughter from Houston to Atlanta during the holidays of 2022 (thanks to Southwest Airlines meltdown...had tickets to fly but flights kept canceling) to hear this fantastic band perform live. It was the treat of treats to hear this live. It is a rare moment indeed when they perform live. If you ever have the chance to see them live, move mountains to get to where they are playing. It is truly "Ear Candy".

F&F is a magnificent band doing classic standards, especially those that are rich in vocal harmonies. This song by The Beach Boys is in the top ten of the best by the band of the Wilson, of course. And F&F nail it.

Vocal tracks are recorded individually, (Maggie will often record her vocal track in her home studio in Nashville.Scott and now Ross's bass track is sent from Virginia). If the singers are able to come to the studio when Maggie's in Atlanta, they will video a couple songs singing around the mic while listening to the mixed recording. The musicians record audio and video simultaneously, individually when they come in.Tim will have John come in and record drum tracks for about 4 songs using variable speed click track to get the subtle tempo changes of the original, then build the songs over time as individual members have time to record. He is usually juggling production of 4 or 5 songs at once in various stages from early to nearly finished . (Tim thought he retired once)

@@jthomas5722 They rarely have all 3 women available to record in studio at the same time so they couldn't do that most of the time anyway. Beautiful rendition, loved it. It's good to know that Brian's lovely harmonies will live on. It's funny how even in another artist's cover, Brian's voice still echoes in my mind. There's nothing quite like that Brian Wilson wail. If I remember correctly, Brian wrote this song for Ronnie Spector of The Ronettes, but Phil wouldn't let her record it. She later recorded it when she was no longer under his control. On YT, you can hear her version & also I've seen a short clip of a much older Brian doing a radio interview (I think) & the DJ plays her version for Brian. His awe at hearing her finally sing the song he wrote for her is a joy to see. I think there's also a clip even later where Ronnie talks about it with Brian or thanks him? If I've misrepresented anything here, please forgive me. I'm a huge Brian Wilson fan & went through a phase where I immersed myself in his music, biographies, movies, & YT footage all in one go, but it's been at least 5 years ago & my memory isn't what it used to be, lol.

I am not really sure myself about whether they actually sing around the mic or just video that way. Tim loves to use separate mics especially when performing live as that is how he controls the noise. I do know he doesn't do pitch correction. He has spoken about Sammie having perfect pitch and how her high pitched voice has a tendency to sound louder then she really is so I suspect they might be individually mic'd.

Vocals are recoded individually and they video while singing along to the finished recording. If they can they wait and do several group sing videos when Maggie is in town. Dont Worry Baby was one of the original 7 they worked on that first labor day weekend 2019.

I always enjoy listening to Foxes and Fossils... their harmonies are just super. I've always been a big fan of Beach Boys and their amazing harmonies. This brought back memories of the Beach Boys Stars and Sripes album where they did all the background harmonies and had different popular singers of the time sing a song of theirs. Lorrie Morgan did Don't Worry Baby and Willie Nelson did The Warmth of the Sun..... both were and are unbelievable... check out the videos of this super album. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eH-ZgWuLhNGUm5o

I completely agree. I liked the Stars & Stripes collaborations, because it brought The Beach Boys back into the studio together to work with the country artists. Studio footage of the boys together is rare & it was fun to see them working together again. Carl was still alive at that point, although Dennis had already passed. Rest in peace dear Dennis & Carl. Timothy B. Schmit did a beautiful version of Caroline, No with the Beach Boys adding new background harmonies. If you have a chance to see the Stars & Stripes video, it is priceless for the behind the scenes studio footage. My favorite part is when Mike tries to tell Willie Nelson how he should sing Warmth of the Sun! And of course Brian laughs at Mike, just like old times! 😂

I just had to add a link to Accent with Arturo Sandoval with Jeff's reaction. Including Jeff, there are 8 individuals doing all this beautiful music on line, with no auto tune, whatever that is, in the case of the singers, sometimes only having 1 line coming over the headset!!! The result is, IMHO, spectacular. We have come so far from 1 mike, and a reel to reel tape recorder. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZbOaZKpm8SlftUsi=wQBX2hOJnEXC-fwH.
