Thank you for reacting to this one, considered by many Depeche Mode fans (such as myself) to be the best DM cover ever recorded. Although an odd choice, I love that Röyksopp picked this obscure song to do a cover of. The original was the b-side of DM's very first single, hence recorded before hardly anyone knew who they were. While remaining faithful to the song, Röyksopp really brought this simple synthpop tune of yesteryear into the electronic music world of today. On a side note, did you know that while Röyksopp often invite several different vocalists on their albums, Jonna Lee was brought in to do all vocals on their tour a few years ago? And on a side note to the side note, did you know that Jonna Lee recorded a cover of a song by EBM band Nitzer Ebb who are label mates with Depeche Mode? Ok, sorry for the ramblings. I'll stop now...

Why is it an odd choice? Both are master's of their craft.... I discovered Depeche in he early 00s when I really went on a tear of new music.. I hated all of my sisters 80s music througjout the 90s. Then when I matured, Holy shit! All of that music was amazing!... This is definitely one of my favorite Depeche tracks, feel like their live version is very much underrated! And this version is quite special!

Fantastic cover of the DM song. To me, a very nostalgic feel to it all. Trivia: The drummers are actually drummers from the HM Royal Guard drill corps. This was a live event recording during the final show of a music TV show made by NRK which is the national broadcast of Norway. Røyksopp made the intro jingle to the national broadcast main newscast (so "most" Norwegians hear a little Røyksopp every day).

Hey. Reacting to my fellow Norwegians. I like. Not only Nightwish to check out here :-) True story: In 2009, Röyksopp and Depeche Mode played at the same festival in Sweden, the Arvika Festival. That weekend was a blast! And Röyksopp actually means Smoke Fungus. Like those that burst and ejects "smoke" when you step on them. The Ö is a Swedish (or German) letter. The same Norwegian is written Ø. It is pronounced as the U in "church". Cheers

The Atom setup is easily explainable with the band's name "Röyksopp" litterally meaning "smoke mushroom", an allusion to a nuclear plume.
