She’s awesome - what a prodigy. But this is also a reminder of just how great Bonham was. His powerful snare tone was just unique and special.

That piece would typically be difficult to play for a kid her age, but she pulled it off. Robert Plant once said that this song really shows the talent that John Bonham had as a drummer and Yoyoka came through just fine.

Her mother said, Yoyoka doesn't try to read music and can't read😆 I believe she has the ability to reproduce the sounds she hears and create her own groove. My daughter is a dancer, and when she saw yoyoka's performance, she said it looked like a dancer was playing. I think of her as music in herself. From Japan😚
I'm pretty sure she can read sheet music now, I've seen her with it propped up in front of her for some of her jazz gigs. She did start off playing by ear though, I don't think she wanted to learn to read music so much as it just became a necessity to keep progressing.

Great Choice, 👍Great Reaction 👏 Yoyoka released that on the 25 September, the anniversary of John Henry Bonham's death, as a tribute to him. Bonham heavily influenced her drumming style. Best Wishes, Sir. ☮ Yoyoka has a playlist of Led Zeppelin covers: kzbin.info/aero/PLdRIgHiqkWWYwCQFLsXzXcNdaUAHwtHZF Several are reworking of the same song with different musicians, Her tribute to Jeff Beck is pretty remarkable: _Jeff Beck - Led Boots / Drum Covered by YOYOKA_ kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6O0oa2LmshjZpY The original drummer part was created by Narada Michael Walden. Yoyoka is really growing in leaps and bounds. She is coming into her own as a professional musician. She is finally in an environent where she has had to learn to be able to read music and drum at the same time. Her ability to speak English is improving daily. She is not slowing down in the least as, you may or may not know, she moved to the US and was going to a school in Oakland. Now she is on a magical music tour back in Japan. When she comes back to the US, she and her family are going to pull up stakes and move to LA. Now, that covid has disappeared for the most part, it is time to get back to work, meaning that I do not have the time to follow her like I once did. It is always good when she gets reactions to her music. I just really hope that she will be able to do what she wants to with as much talent as she has. Just a real shame the way the music and recording industry is in shambles.

A joy indeed. So many covers. I particularly like Led Zeppelins "The Ocean" which she recorded in a studio in Las Vegas along with an amazing young Bass player, Ellen Alaverdyan (9), and two very talented teenagers Eva and Mateo. The 12th birthday sessions are a must. Robert Plant watched her at 8 performing ""Good Times Bad Times" saying he knew where she could get a good job. Ian Paice of Deep Purple watched her cover of "Burn" where she rocked out and reached out to her to do some work. She has been invited to sit in live with Cindy Lauper and others, but she's been gigging since she was 4. There is footage of her at 6 doing a stripped down version of "Onyx". And on and on. All of her covers are one take, so you get it warts and all. Also the youngest person to be endorsed by Pearl Drums. What is truly amazing though is all the musicians, and producers that I see watching her, when is someone going to get her into some of the paid session work she deserves. She lives in the USA now. Love the respect and awe though. She is one of a number of rising superstars which include the aforementioned, along with Angelina Jordan and others. Hope I get to see them all live before I stop breathing. Anyway, keep up the love and Joy for this one. Be well.
