Sir I have 2 suggestions, if you are in contact with any of the Top Military Leadership then please request them to give it a thought- 1. Sir, as we know that India would be going forward with Theatre Commands, out of which 3 will most likely be placed to protect the whole Northern Side of the country. A formal structure which can be proposed is- 1. Theatre Commands should be at top which will be headed by Theatre Commanders as is being planned who in turn will take orders from CDS, Defence Ministry & CCS. Under the Theatre Commands we should include our Strike Corps. apart from Regular Infantry Soldiers & other assets of IA & IAF. Under these Strike Corps., we should form our Integrated Battle Groups (IBG) capable of undertaking missions inside the enemy territory. Sir, according to my analysis, each Strike Corp. should have around 50,000 soldiers but numbers can differ according to terrains & other conditions. These 50,000 soldiers can be divided into 2 parts of 25,000 each. First 25,000 will be the Strike soldiers. 5 IBGs will be created from these 25,000 soldiers. Each IBG will have around 5000 soldiers. The remaining 25,000 soliders will be specialized in Defensive operations. We can take a lesson from the mistake Pakistan did in 1965 war when it entered J&K & we opened the Punjab front which made them retreat. So just incase Chinese try to open another front these 25,000 which can be divided into 8-10K soldiers Groups who can be tasked to defend critical routes. For eg. Eastern Theatre Command HQ- Kolkata Mountain Strike Corp. HQ- Guhawati Then for 5 IBG, we can have localized Commands from where mission planning can take place to achieve objectives. 5 IBG HQ can be in Pasighat, Itanagar, Tezpur, Silliguri & Gangtok (For Eastern Theatre Command) Ofcourse the whole command would have Regular Infantry Soldiers, Special Forces & Aircrafts as well who will be responsible for both Offensive & Defensive operations but the purpose of having localized IBG Commands under Strike Corps. would give other Regular units under the Theatre Command time to prepare well for second round of attacks while the IBG can demoralize the enemy in the initial wave quickly. 2. Once the Theatre Commands are put in place & IBG along with other formations are reorganized, we should plan to raise 2 more 'Unified Commands' keeping in mind the 21st Century Warfare. These will be Information Warfare Command & Cyber-Space Command. Information Warfare Command should be specialized in helping build a narrative during any mission with the objective of demoralizing the enemy as well as Gather Intelligence via DIA & R&AW. Information Warfare Command can be led by the Army. Cyber-Space Command would be responsible of protecting our space assets as well attacking Space assets & critical installations of the enemy by launching Cyber Attacks. Cyber-Space Command can be led by Airforce. Both will be unified Commands similar to Unified Air Defence Command & henceforth a single Command would be responsible for the entire country's operations in these fields.

Very good analysis. However I feel that armed forces and CDS should consider first making unified command before theatre commands. These unified commands can very easily combine assets of all three forces. I suggest 1. Logistics command- all air assets like cargo planes, transport helicopters, utility helicopters , supply ships and supply trucks of all forces together. 2. Engineering command- all three forces maintenance, repairs and overhaul of machine ,equipment under one umbrella. 3. C4I command- command, control, communication, computers (cyber) and intelligence under unified command. Intelligence gathering of all services plus inputs from Raw, IB and NIA . 4. AD command- this has already been planned. I feel maritime command need to have Western theater and Eastern theater commands to look after west and east sea boards. Just few thoughts. Thanx.

On the side note I think of 5. Human resources- recruitment, training, placement, administration, accounts, leagal ( court mashal) etc. All functions together of all forces under one command. 6. Medical command- as name suggests all armed forces doctors, nursing staff, medical hospitals and colleges together. You may think of some more to make forces more efficient and stop duplicate work done separately by each wing of armed forces. Thanx.

When I played COD games 4years ago these type things were in the game I know it is just a video game in india we take it as children's play thing. But what I'm saying is 4 years ago game developers know how modern wars will be(ofcourse they consult army personals for insight) They learned it from their military and western nation's army is very strong and effective. We have to be strong and effective with modern technology like them. I love india and our army but lets be real our army is not as modern or have equipment like they have. Plz make india better our military better

1. Integrate the support arms/services (maintenance, communication, accounts, adm. ...) into one cadre. I remember the army corps of engineers provided services to the other two services. The army corp of signals were responsible in some areas for providing landline comm. 2. Integrate processes across support arms/services 2. Replace Army, Navy, and Air Force Acts, with a single Armed Forces Act.

Nitin ji it is quite a good exposition on the new command structure, as an analyst the whole reorganisation is good or bad? You did not clearly say. Now the whole reorganisation and sprucing up and absolute battle preparedness, I understand will take place four to five years. Meanwhile if our enemies launch major attacks won't we get caught in on confusion for everything. Do we have contingency plans to, counter such an event. Some one has to clarify,
