From a video 30 years ago, featuring the rehearsal and concert performances of Weber's Der Freischütz overture and Strauss II's Die Fledermaus overture.
Not much has changed, though he didn't have a Luftpause then; the recent ones here have it, namely:

I think the most important thing of the whole interpretation is the ending, how Kleiber just used the tip for the impossible piccolo solo. His economy of motion is amazing.

Around 7:20, he does NOTHING for about 4-5 seconds. And it's the harderst part to get right of the whole overture. An unbelievable conductor!!! *****

Last thing the musicians need at that point is someone to watch...they all know how it goes. A moment to focus and listen right before the big finale is always useful... I agree - stunning conducting.
