Note how important this is fight is for zoro. He’s fighting in front of his captain who hasn’t seen him in a while (years in real life for us viewers) and he’s showing luffy that he has gotten stronger . People tend to forget zoro is shown to be constantly training in his free time pre time skip. New world it’s. Not shown as much but I doubt he’s shown down. That’s why all his power ups make sense. It’s not a ass pull. He trains and constantly fights to train . Making him stronger over time.

Its shitty because Hawkins aimed to become the pirate king, when on the grand stage hes barely capable of standing against the others. His devil fruit is 100% gimmick, more gimmick than Luffys, and he seems to not be a haki user. To use others lifes as his own shield, his weakness was already seen pre-timeskip when Kizaru deleted his endless supply of meat shields. No wonder he joined Kaido.

I wouldn't give up on Hawkins yet. He was mentioned among the other Supernovas to look out for alongside Luffy, Kid, and Law. Plus we now know that Hawkins only "joined" Kaido so he'd have a higher chance of defeating him during the Raid/Festival. Hawkins does have Haki btw. I don't know if he has Armament but he definitely has Observation Haki. Even if he didn't for him to be one of the Supernovas and NOT have haki after all this time is actually pretty insane. Imagine how strong he'd be with it if he doesn't have it? There's still plenty of room for him to grow.
