When I first moved to the area I drove into ANF from the desert side for the first time. Strawberry peak has a sheer wall on its north side and immediately stuck out as a spectacular looking mountain. I also didn’t know anything about the trails yet or where to begin learning about them so I simply typed in “Angeles National Forest mountain with rock face” and found it through the image search! It was “my” first mountain here and I’ve done this hike more times than I can count.

This was awesome to watch! Coming from the valley in CA, my hikes are totally different (and usually very dry 😂). Can’t wait to explore the rest of the states nature, you videos are awesome! :)

I went straight up the ridge to Mt. Lawlor and back down the other side to Lawlor saddle before continuing on to Strawberry Peak. There is a good reason you recommend skirting around it; it's steep! (But it was worth it).

yea that's a tough shortcut - didn't want to scare folks off!

I did this hike a couple years ago (used your guide and the old video back then)... that last mile is a killer (for me, anyway)! But the views are well worth it! Thanks for the video, this makes me wanna do it again.

The elevations of the San Gabes all changed in 1994, but the "latest" USGS maps are 1983 . Oh well, what are a couple of meters among friends 😁😉

Thank you so much for this excellent guide. I think I’ll try Echo Mountain, then Stoddard Peak, and then this will be my last “training peak” before Baden Powell. It’s been so helpful to watch your videos and line up a progression.

This was actually shot on the iPhone but moving back to a Sony - you just can't beat the color and sharpness of a big lens, although the iPhone is def respectable given it's small size
