Having a personal relationship with God means exactly what it sounds like. You’re not just a Christian because you go to church or read your Bible every now and then, but you personally have come to know Christ and accept him as Lord. It’s a very common thing to say if your looking to differentiate from those who say their Christian for some nonchalant reason like “cause your family is Christian” or such. I understand yall aren’t very religious but have some respect for peoples preferences, especially when it’s not just bs.

Personal relationship with God to me means you're not just religious because you were raised up that way, or you go to church and read bible like routine. It means you genuinely know who God is to you, and you have a personal relationship with him, so it doesn't matter what the church does, or other people do, it doesn't shake your personal faith and walk with God cause its just you and Him. That's what that means.

by having a personal relationship with God you can picture it as having a relationship with any other person HOWEVER keep in mind that God isn’t any other person. you don’t have to talk to the sky or be extremely formal to God, while some people may do that, but having a relationship with God just means acting out the way HE wants us to rather than in the way WE want to. and developing that relationship with God is like any other relationship, you have to spend time with them and talk to them and in this case read about Him in order to not only better understand Him but to also better understand yourself and how He wants us to act.
