just a fun fact about side effects: this song was actually the song that popularized the genre “psytrance” (psychedelic trance) in k-pop. at the beginning, a lot of non-fans actually found it quite odd and even disliked it because of the “no-lyric” chorus, but side effects is an actual masterpiece. this song and mv has such an amazing artistic expression not only when it comes to the lyrics and sound, but even the choreo. the “crazy” hand movements during the chorus is meant to portray what happens inside one’s head when side effects of medicine (anti-depressant pills, for example) kick in. if you listen carefully, the voice talking during the chorus is actually saying “common side effects may include: nervousness, insomnia, nausea, agitation, anxiety, sweating, vision problems, psychosis, numbness, dizziness, headaches, weight loss.” for a song that has such concept, i feel like it would’ve been so hard to convey that in terms of dance but how they did it is just so perfect. even how the mv is edited depicts the meaning of the song so creatively. i’m so glad you guys enjoyed it and found the song cool because for a lot of stays, we actually think that this is one of their most iconic eras.

yeah you guys are right. road not taken is the intro from yellow wood and after levanter came out stays found out that if you play road not taken and then stop right after it, it fits perfectly. so road not taken is basically a prequel to stop

i personally don’t mind if you do ot9 versions if it makes it less confusing and if you want to see their growth (though by re-recorded im fairly certain it’s actually just members recording kwj parts, it doesn’t sound like everyone re-recorded their parts)!! but yes there are A FEW songs that were not re-recorded, road not taken being one of them. the songs that haven’t been re-recorded are intro songs, + Glow, School Life, and 4419 from the predebut Mixtape mini-album + hero’s soup from i am you. but anyways Levanter is the first OT8 comeback, so you won’t have to worry about playing OT8 ones for anything after that, unless you decide to do ot8 versions when you go back and do Mixtape mini album and I am NOT mini album, but if not that’s cool too!!

When the song originally was released it received a lot of backlash due to the bold sound and concept, it's actually where the insult of 'noise music' started with regards to Stray Kids. Now, I think a lot more people can appreciate its experimental sound which was and still is extremely rare in this specific music industry.

About the title of the album, Yellow Wood: From what I remember when it came out, Yellow Wood is a reference to a famous poem "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. There's a line about the road diverging at the yellow wood, and the narrator chooses the 'road less traveled by', knowing that it would change his future irreversibly. In the "Side Effects" MV, we see Stray Kids at a bus stop taking their luggage to travel into the wilderness in a rugged vehicle. In fact, from the Yellow Wood album teasers we see that there are two parallel universes (hence the two moons) -- one in which SKZ took the 'road less traveled' aka the safari-like path into the wild, and one in which SKZ took the conventional route on the comfortable bus. We follow the journey of the version of SKZ that took the more difficult path that few others have tried before, symbolizing the non-mainstream type of music and artistry they've been producing since predebut. "Side Effects" can be interpreted as the literal side effects of their choice to take the hard route where they feel discouraged and constantly doubt themselves even while putting up a facade full of bravado. You can see this same theme in the lyrics of "Road Not Taken" and "TMT", which are the only new tracks specific to this album. For instance, Changbin raps a line about whether the path he's chosen is that of 'crisis or opportunity', and all of "TMT"'s lyrics are related to this inner struggle of trying to forge one's own path while looking at the stars, because that's the only source of hope and salvation for them who are still striving to find their place. Hopefully this helps you understand the concept and meaning of this album better! While Cle 1: Miroh was like them diving headfirst into the 'city jungle', Cle 2: Yellow Wood is like them abandoning the traditional infrastructure of the 'city jungle' and choosing another path, the 'road not taken'. A lot of people were shocked by the concept and sound of "Side Effects" and they received a lot of hate at the time, yet they chose to do what no one had done before despite knowing the potential backlash in order to shape their own destiny. This is a perfect example of the idea behind Frost's poem.

Don't know if you noticed but in side effects it's kind of a chain reaction, first felix kind of brushes hyunjin off when in the car, then hyunjin gets irritated and snaps on seungmin for talking pictures. Then a whole fight breaks out then afterwards some of the members are comforting hyunjin, and another member is petting felix. The side effects being listed by the announcer dude includes anxiety, nausea, *aggression or agitation* - there are 2 versions of stray kids just like there are 2 moons

Girls, if you wanna know a little more about how the SKZ MVs intertwine, I have a recommendation for you. Before God's Menu and the GO LIVE album was released, there was an official SKZ KZbin video that compiled a bit of the timeline of the MVs and how they link together until that moment. Since you are coming to the Levanter era, I think the ideal time would be right after you have finished the MVs and songs for Levanter. Even for those who weren't following SKZ at the time, they probably noticed that God's Menu was a big turning point, not only in their career, but also in the storyline of the albums. The reason why all of the mixtapes are in the yellow wood album is that earlier when they were releasing previous albums (I am series and Cle 1 ) the mixtapes were an album only songs so they werent on streaming sites (ituns spotify etc) and they put them on the cle 2 (and its actually not a mini album/ep but a special album like christmas evel)

Okay, I need to know something, why do some stays make harder the way to baby stays?. I don´t understand it! I mean Silvia and Christy are doing a wonderful journey for every one of us with their amazing reactions (I LOVE you girls) but then we came here and try to force them to know everything? Here what I understand about their intro(s) and Mixtape(s) in every album. Everyone is welcome to correct me if I’m wrong ^^ 1. 3 intro songs in “I Am…” series is basically one full song called 0325. This song (0325) is divided into 3 intros called NOT!, WHO?, and YOU. 0325 is in the I Am YOU album (the last series) 2. Intro songs in “Cle…” series is a little bit different. Intro for Cle 1 : Miroh is called Entrance. This intro is like a “medley” about the whole album. If you listen carefully, you can hear the “snippet” of all sounds and lyrics in the Cle 1 album. Moving on to the second intro for “Cle 2 : Yellow Wood” called Road Not Taken. This song is a short version of STOP. It’s just like 0325, STOP is basically a full version of Road Not Taken. STOP is an intro song for the last series, Cle : Levanter. If you listen carefully in the end of Road Not Taken, the lyric says, “…I will never,” then the music stops as if it’s being cut for a reason. And when you play STOP, the very first lyric you will listen is “stop”. So, if it’s combined with the ending of Road Not Taken, it will be a full sentence: “I will never stop.” 3. In “GO生” (GO LIVE) album, there’s an intro called “Go Live” which is a short version of a song called The Tortoise and The Hare (TTaTH). TTaTH is included in a repackage album called “IN生”(IN LIFE). And yes, we don’t have any intro song in NOEASY album ^^ 4. About their Mixtape songs; they are 3RACHA’s pre-debut songs that being re-recorded with 9 members. These songs originally are just bonus tracks for the album (exclusive physical album only), so that’s why Stray Kids want to “release” Mixtape #1,2,3,4 to all music streaming platforms. These Mixtapes are included in their special album called Cle 2 : Yellow Wood (still 9 members). Later, since it’s 8 of them now, they re-recorded (again HAHA) all the Mixtape songs (including Mixtape #5) then use the “original” title name of the song according how 3RACHA named it in their pre-debut era. PS : All Mixtape songs are now available on music streaming platforms. Mixtape #1 become Placebo; from I am NOT Mixtape #2 become Behind The Light (그림자도 빛이 있어야 존재); from I am WHO Mixtape #3 become For You; from I am YOU Mixtape #4 become Broken Compass (고장난 나침반); from Cle 1 : Miroh Mixtape #5 become Hoodie Season; from Cle : Levanter 5. Please differentiate Mixtape with and without hashtag (#). The one with # are 3RACHA's pre-debut songs. Ngl, I wasn't biggest fan of Side Effects when it first came out. It was the first title track from them I didn't immediately vibe with so that was an experience lmao. One aspect of it that did catch my attention from the get go was the choreography though. Side Effects has one of my favourite, if not my favourite, choreography they've ever done. It's insane. When y'all have the time I highly recommend checking the performance video and/or dance practice. Also, I do enjoy Side Effects now but, it was definitely more of a grower lol Edit: Nevermind, just realised y'all reacted to the performance video in the next part 💀💀💀

I can't wait to hear your opinions on Clé: Levanter. It is gonna be fun, because it is a very pretty album. SKZ has a looot of things so it must be very hard to make sense of it especially for a new fans. It's okay if you miss something or do the wrong version. We are just happy to see you enjoy SKZ content. So I just want to give you idea to maybe help divide whats next. Idk if you know, after Clé: Levanter, there's is a single album "Step out of Clé" which has english versions of Levanter and Double knot. And then there were japanese releases "TOP" and "Slump" (opening and ending of anime Tower of God) which were released in jp, kr, en language as well. "TOP" and "Slump" kr versions are part of "GO LIVE" album, but because that album has many songs maybe you could divide it, by making a day for single releases? Also the "Mixtape: Gone days" and "Mixtape: On Track" are pre-released singles of GO LIVE so you could add those as well.

Since Ladies will miss quite abit as well as have your own theories about it, here is my view .... What I get from the MV and lyrics, they were leaving the city entering the maze (yellow wood) feeling the side effects I think in my opinion they’re talking about the side effects of being a K-pop artist awhile trying to stay human *Faded voice in the background names the side effects but it’s hard to hear it over the music and also the split scene where they’re shown on the bus sleeping & walking on a dark road. I believe thats them dreaming which shows they never got off the bus* ... first they’re in the city in MIROH MV and now it’s a combination concept of Hellevator and District 9. I’m sure i’m not the only one who noticed the bus in the opener, ‘I Am You’ fashion, elevator behind them, two moons, city in the sky and the key to the elevator. *SIDE EFFECTS THAT FANS GET: COMPLETE SHOCK & CONFUSION* 😵😶 My biases are Bang Chan, Felix, Changbin, Lee Know and I.N but I am 0T8. #SideEffects #StrayKids

actually, side effects has a performance video, I think the choreography completes the song, as the song is very performance heavy. thus I really recommend watching the performance version

Y'all are doing great, having fun, and putting a lot of time and effort into introducing yourselves to SKZ. It's lovely that you're considerate enough to listen to comments, but honestly, this is YOUR channel and YOUR reaction, and you should get to listen to what works for YOU. I say this as someone who prefers the ot8 audio of the songs because that's what's current and matches with the present lineup, but I absolutely still watch the nine-member videos. Out of all the stuff made with nine members, the only updated ot8 videos we've gotten have been the Voices Special Video, the Boxer Special Video, the Double Knot English ver (the original was the Korean ver and with nine members), and Placebo (for which the nine-member ver, Mixtape 1, didn't have a video anyway). So hey, if there's a choice between a nine-member version and an ot8 version of an audio-only song, sure, there's probably no big reason not to do the ot8, since those are the voices you'll hear in their music now. But if it's something that has a video, and the video is nine-member, then you can and probably should watch it; their videos are art _and_ they have storyline info. Don't let strangers on the internet rob you of the chance to watch what you want to watch. As for any significant audio differences between nine-member versions and ot8 versions, there's not much in most songs. Han took over a lot of Woojin's parts, with the rest being covered by a mix of the other members (had they don't the first set of remakes more recently, I suspect Seungmin and maybe even I.N would have been given a larger portion). A few will have small lyrical tweaks to change references that were originally about them being nine (such as District 9's "Started with nine" changing to "Started with STAY"), but other than that the only changes of note are really in the numbered Mixtapes. In addition to being retitled from Mixtape [Number 1-5] back into the titles from the original 3RACHA raps they were expanded from, they also had the lyrics/parts that were written by Woojin removed, so the songs are actually different in content now. And then there's Placebo (formerly Mixtape 1), where in addition to the removal of Woojin's parts, Han just goes nuts and channels his inner torch singer for a few seconds there, meaning there's also a noticeable difference in the song beyond just the lack of Woojin's parts. So basically, the songs formerly known as Mixtapes 1-5 are the only songs with a significantly different form from the original versions.
