You forgot to mention about this: TrendZ is no longer going to be on the 1st 6 stops of the K-pop Breakout Tour in North America due to Visa Issues and will join the tour at the Boston stop, Philadelphia & Dallas shows have been canceled, and Toronto & Montreal have changed venues and are now 18+ and despite all this they’re allowing refunds

@@gwenmloveskpopandmore I've been debating on whether or not to include this because there have been similar situations with other groups on tour that I didn't include in the past. I'm asking this simply out of curiosity and not intending to be rude, but I was wondering why you didn't mention Stray Kids' 5 music show wins in any of the uploads? Especially since they got a triple crown on Show Champion and are thr 1st group to achieve this in 2024 so far. I absolutely love your videos tho and always look forward to your uploads. I know there's a crazy amount of things happening all the time in kpop, but with this being a larger accomplishment and how you try to include wins, I wanted to ask. 😊

@@swiftjoon nah but you need to see the intention as well. idk about yeonjun situation but for the felix case, he didn't even recommending or mentioned the song at all. he just saying on his bubble that he want to do some tiktok challenge. the one who blow it up is netizen, using the vn that he sent as a snippet. the sound of the song isn't really clear either and a lot of korean (korean stays and non-stays korean) defending felix in this as well
@lisaSKZSTAY
@lisaSKZSTAY 28 күн бұрын
Something I haven’t seen anyone mention is when Felix got on bubble, it was 12:50 AM. They had just finished practicing. I can almost guarantee he wasn’t thinking “Oh, it’s Liberation Day, now.” Everyone I know says, “See you tomorrow” at 1-2 AM when they actually mean later that day. To a lot of us, “tomorrow” begins at sunrise. In FANS, many Korean STAYs were saying an apology wasn’t necessary for his innocent mistake, but it was appreciated and well-received. I think some people will just latch onto the tiniest thing to demonise and throw hate at SKZ members.

It's nothing to you. It's everything to Korea. They were forcibly colonised under imperialist Japan as recently as world war 2. There are still Korean Women who experienced traumatic Rape and Forced Marriages under imperialist rule. There are still people alive in Korea born of those rapes. The split between North and South Korea is also the fault of imperialist Japan, there are still people living in South Korea who were separated from their families through the DMZ, people whose siblings they don't even know if are alive any longer. Japanese imperialism tried to eradicate Korean Culture and lifestyle. And None of this has ever been publicly recognised by the Japanese Government, in fact they act like it never happened, and for some reason the West refuse to acknowledge any of this, like we forget why Hiroshima and Nagasaki got bombed. Historical records actually show Imperialist Japan committing worse war crimes than the NAZI's in WW2, a lot of which was against the Korean People, they are allowed to have 1 day a year to grieve this, asking people not to post in relation to a country for 1 day a year is really not much in the grand scheme of things.

I hold a different perspective on the liberation day controversies. This has happened with a different celebrity every single year for almost 10 years now, the worst case that comes to mind is Tiffany Young (Snsd) who was practically chased out of the country back to America afterwards. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if an idol makes a similar mistake as Yeonjun or Felix next year too. I see it as a hopeful and positive thing. I mean can you imagine telling the Koreans who were truly suffering under Japanese rule in the past that their descendants were celebrities in Japan and had adoring fans from there. Even having Japanese friends and co-workers in the same groups leaving Japan to work for a free, independent Korea. Young Japanese people being inspired to learn Korean language, and Koreans _choosing_ to learn Japanese-not being forced to. It’s a very hopeful picture that is reality now. Of course, Japan has never apologized or acknowledged much of their crimes which is beyond wrong and shameful. However, the current cooperation and peace between the new generations is still inspiring. I’m not saying those who left the negative comments were wrong at all. It’s not my family and country’s history, but theirs. I understand how it can be, at least, disrespectful to their ancestors on this specific day. It’s such a shame really because I do believe Korea wouldn’t be as sensitive about this issue if Japan had truly made amends and sincere apologies. It’s hard to move on from something so horrible without proper closure. That being said, I believe the perspective I’ve commented can co-exist. Not to defend the idols (who just made honest mistakes) but to look at their liberation day from another angle and celebrate how far they’ve survived to see. I would be proud of the idols who were working in Japan after everything that’s transpired between their histories.

As a black person, during Juneteenth or black history month I don't curse the very existence of white ppl and refuse to use anything that relates to them. I understand remembering the hurt that they brought but cancelling ppl for listening to Japanese music on Liberation Day. I think it's most important that they aren't directing praising Japan at an inappropriate time. These are other Korean ppl after all, they care just as much as Korean liberation as any other citizen, obviously they aren't dismissive to their own history.
@ashantythegreat3231

It's just tone deaf. Koreans aren't hating on Japanese people, throwing stuff at them in the streets in that day (unless they're those types of Koreans who hate Japanese) On that independence day there's no activity related to Japan to pay respect to Korea. It's like being silent when a elder is speaking. A sign of respect. And while yes, black month is different from independence day. It's a important day, a DAY, that people can do the bare minimum and not be ignorant and respect it.

I just can not wrap my head around people getting angry about the posts from Felix and Yeonjun. Like I'm sure the reports overstate the public reactions a little bit but getting righteous about a popstar making innocent posts that have absolutely ZERO content about the actual Independence Day at hand is absurd to me. Not saying the history between Korea and Japan isn't bloody and tragic but popstars that aren't saying anything can not the people you actually want to be mad at.

I feel like Koreans getting upset about these things done on Korean Liberation Day is like if Black people got upset at every Black celeb that promoted, or posted something about them going to a Southern state, or mentioned their white celeb friend on Juneteenth. This is not the same as posting about visiting near some Japanese war criminal’s memorial or wearing a Japanese flag during the day which is obviously inappropriate. I understand that it’s a day of reflection but it feels excessive in 2024 to expect globally working people to cancel an entire country’s unrelated media and its people on a day because of some abhorrent, awful politicians, soldiers, and racist imperialist civilians. I mean, even Koreans are making these mistakes (yes, I know Felix is Australian but look how long he’s been in S. Korea. He’s used to the decorum). This is a natural thing to happen in societies as time passes. This is just people aware of the day yet technically not off work not equating Korean liberation with boycotting regular Japanese people and pop culture for a day in their brains. The equivalency doesn’t exist and I think that’s healthy if we are to remember the atrocities of history yet not repeat the resentment and hate that led to such things happening. Are half Korean, half Japanese idols also not allowed to call home? Do half Japanese, half Korean idols get radio silence from their friends on this day too? I wish that people would better select which things to be upset about. I don’t think there is any slippery slope at all. However, I am nobody, just a Black American foreigner who took a couple Korean culture and Asian studies classes. I just find it sad to see after over half a century, regular Korean and Japanese people are still discriminating against each other instead of just focusing on the ways the Japanese government has and still does fail to be humble and apologetic towards the countries it harmed. I know some diplomatic tensions are still ongoing but I still don’t understand why the regular people have to be rude and disparaging to each other.

Before Us International fans say that korean fans and people are overreacting, please try to understand where they're coming from. They're just trying to honor their history and ancestors. That day is very important to them, and we shouldn't undermine it or paint them as crazy simply because we don't understand. Try to understand where they're coming before immediately dismissing them.
