Ok about the birds... this is just my opinion. There's a saying "Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness". It basically means if you never step out of who you think you're supposed to be you'll never know who you really are. If a bird never gets out of the cage, it will never know it was meant to fly.

Loved your reaction and theories! As of the Birds that show up throughout the video, I think they symbolized two main things. The bird while in the cage is like a person, who is locked up in pretending to be normal, restricting yourself, staying in their comfort zone. As of the birds flying and singing right before the chorus, I think that symbolizes freedom and them freeing themselves from the restrictions of trying to fit in with society, since when birds are flying, they can go anywhere and do whatever they want. And I think the diner in which half of the members are depicted to work in represents having a normal job and living a normal life, same as the train in which Han is during the video. As of the end where they are within this giant brain, you can see the train, the bike Chan was riding at the beginning and the spider webs that had been cut off earlier all floating around, against the laws of gravity, as if showing that there are no restrictions for your mind and thus for who you are and want to be. Overall MANIAC is a masterpiece as well as the entire ODDINARY album, they just keep outdoing themselves each comeback.

I think the bird represents something like "one flew over the cuckoo's nest" - a way of expressing that someone is crazy. The canary/bird is like a warning. It flies freely as birds do and at the same time the members are dancing, running, going around being free, doing their thing...then at end of mv, the bird is caged and everyone is sitting around back to being normal as expected (day to day stuff) But anyhow, loved every bit of reaction and of course, the MV. Never a dull moment with Stray Kids...LOVE THEM!!!

The brain in the video is Minho's brain, because the camera "came" right into his head (by the way, the brain is purple, just like Minho's hair), where all the other members then danced and went wild. Also, Minho was peeping at the transformation of I.N through the window, maybe that's how he realized that all the people around are actually different inside and it's ok to be like that? And it also seems that the moment with the drill is important: in the Ordinary (light setting), Felix drilled Lino's mind and the world turned upside down and turned into the Oddinary (dark setting), and then, at the end, Lino drilled the mind again (a hole in the wall), screwed a screw there and hung a picture (covered the screw). So may be a screw is an idea which can drive you crazy?

I like the details in this amazing video. In the underground are the numbers 25, 3 and 18 written on the wall, which matches their debutdate. In the train is "oddinary" written on the window and "Maniac" shown on the monitor, as if its the destination. Also the window-signs at the Diner are normaly meant for people on the outside to get them in, but here everything is swicht so you can read it from the inside. Lee Knows hair is purple, but in the scenes in his brain it's pink. I think in his mind he sees himself different to the Realworld-Cosplay-Self. You talk about the structure of the song and how unusual it is. They make it even more "strange" by changing the members in their spot. For example in the second Maniac-part Hyunjin takes Felix' part and so it gets a different feeling. Maybe more maniac. 😄💕

In America, birds usually symbolize freedom or innocence in art because they fly away, but when there is a cage present like here it’s because there is someone or something keeping them in bondage or preventing them from flying free - it could be a caged bird concept! This is just my opinion, but I’ve always thought of birds as a symbol for “freedom” or being free. And the fact that the bird is in a cage at the end of the mv, it’s like representing being trapped or oppressed?? Bc being caged up is similar to being locked up and when you see the bird flying freely throughout the mv it’s the same concept of Stray Kids last world tour, District 9 Unlock in 2020, unlocking your true selves. And Go Live In Life albums followed afterwards makes sense, they’re basically saying life can be a struggle (gosaeng) but don’t let it stop you from living your life (insaeng). And based off my interpretation I’m convinced Maniac was the song Stray Kids replaced God’s Menu with last minute and I thank King Hwang Hyunjin for convincing them to change the title track to God’s Menu bc releasing Maniac and Oddinary album now, feels like the right time in their careers to show this side of them.

Okay I have a theory about the bird 💭 So the bird at the end is stuck in a cage. However, earlier throughout the mv the bird is roaming freely. So when Stray Kids are their true selves they are happy and free, much like the bird. I think it symbolizes freedom and living a life full of happiness. I loved this comeback so much, it was iconic and powerful, the difference in release time this time is because the kids lost in time for this comeback finally got signed to a US label, so a big focus is now on billboard graphics. they now have a very good chance of debuting at number 1 with their first chart entry, and I just- yeah, no one is doing it like lost kids, honestly. Unfortunately, in that full group choreography scene, Han isn't there because he actually stretched a muscle while doing this choreography, so they decided not to make it worse and I think they improvised with him doing something less strenuous, alone. Felix developed a herniated disc after that and won't be dancing as much or doing all the moves on his comeback stages as he continues to heal and Changbim was recently diagnosed with covid. WE PRAY FOR OUR BABIES. 😔 Hope everyone has a successful and healthy comeback with no injuries. I loved camebeck, I loved the music, production, effects and etc... Stray Kids is outdoing itself with each mv and Bangcham being applauded for giving more visibility to the other members, his humility as a leader is what makes this group ONE OF THE BEST OF K-POP. The bird may have been a symbol of their oddinary selves. In the portion of the song where they sing maniac, the bird is free, but in the ending, where it shows all of them living 'ordinary' lives, the bird is trapped. In german there is a saying "Einen Vogel haben" (having a bird). It means being crazy. I think the bird represents their freaky, crazy, maniac self. When it's flying freely, they are being their real self & going crazy. When the bird is in the cage, their real self is concealed in themself, so it's back to being/acting normal.

i LOVE this song and the message that the society wants you to act normal, but that it is better to show your true self. And I think the bird represents that as well because it is confined inside a cage, but it flies around freely during the chorus. The bird was also part of the clock in the main trailer and scared Felix wenn it suddenly appaered and sang. I feel like Felix' jump of the buildig right before the last chorus referes to him falling out of the elevater in the trailer, so his lock broke and all of them dress in an "odd" way.

I love all your work trying to understand and explain to us everything about the song and MV! I think the moment Lee Know was watching I.N behind the glass it means that he saw the true I.N showing up, cause they use the same uniforms (I.N, Lee Know and Seungmin), they "work" in that place so Lee Know suspected that I.N was different and watched him loose his "ordinary" self while he's alone cleaning and shows his true self as he sings "when the locket is open we're all the same", and inmediately Lee Know turns to the camara and says "your eyes can't fool me", I think is cause Lee Know always thought I.N was different, when he finally sees the real one, knew he was right about him all the time and I.N was special and oddinary ❤ the entire album is awesome, can't wait to see you react to it!

P.D: I also think the bird is a representation of everyone living in a cage while pretending to be normal and fit in the society standars, because when they're dancing on the video, you see the bird free, flying around them with other birds all the time, then when the music ends and everything comes back to reality the bird is inside the cage again 🥺
