The Thunderous reference is actually deeper. Someone correct me if I’m wrong (I looked for another comment on this but didn’t see it) but Thunderous (Sorikkun) in Korean also has a double meaning of a singer of traditional Korean forms. So they are saying they are thunderous and they are also singers/performers. You can’t insult them cause they’re “Sorikkun”. Also Changbin in the beginning starts speaking like a traditional Korean storyteller (the Jutdae line).

The wordplay continues with the word “sori”, in korean it apparently means “sound/ noise”. When Felix said i’m not sorry, he could also mean they are not just a sound/ noise. “I’m dirty” might mean their music never follow general rules in kpop industry/ the trend in music, or they could probably say “i’m not sorry for getting my hands dirty, producing my own music”. These guys are true true artists.

Thunderous and noeasy overall was a big gamble, everybody in the industry was watching from the corner as it took them almost a year to have another album after back door and it’s really interesting ! It’s a really polished track with a lot of traditional Korean elements, also thunderous is called “sorrikun” in Korean which mean singer :) and yeah this song is really a diss track at the haters :)

It’s SO hard to explain the Korean title “sorikkun” or “(소리꾼)" in English BUT the nearest word to describe it was “thunderous”. Such a clever take on the title.

This one has a ton of traditional Korean elements in it. Changbin's second bit with the fan is Korean pansori. They are also shown as dokkaebi in the MV - powerful Korean goblins with blue flames. They also have little "horns" in their hair in the form of flippy curls. You can see HANs really well. Lots of traditional instruments and dances. Part of the choreo is from a martial art. Also, they are wearing Hanboks. :)

I know you will love this!! With a Bintro!! Yes, it was the title track on Noeasy, their last full album which dropped last August. For me , this was a no skip album. I loved all of the songs on it especially Cheese, Domino, Sick, Silent Cry and of course, Red Lights.

Great reaction. One of the things I love most about the take us or leave us aspect of this song, which I think gets missed a lot, is that us Aussies use 'dirty' as a way of saying we're angry / annoyed. So, 'I'm not sorry, I'm dirty' comes across as them saying we're not sorry about who we are, we're pissed off with the criticism. This song matches so well with Cheese in that regard.

Something that's also interesting about the song is that while 소리꾼(so-ree-ggun) is called Thunderous, it literally translates to "noise maker" or "someone that specializes in making noise". So they're basically saying "yeah, we make noise music. In fact, we are THE noise makers." :)

Bragadocious is a great way to describe StrayKids when they are feeling themselves and showing us who they really are but the reality is StrayKids are so freaking humble and appreciative and sadly put themselves down so much which LITERALLY BLOWS MY MIND! It's actually very heartbreaking to see them put themselves down but at the same time it's nice to see them be human and humble and realize and appreciate that their fame is only because of the fans. It's quite a double edged sword.

I have to say, loving watching you discover Stray Kids. You appreciating how diverse and different they are is just so brilliant to see. They appeal to dubstep, old school rap & RNB lovers as well as kids just starting their music journey. Both me and my teenage daughter adore Stray Kids (I personally believe 3racha are the best producers out there right now and Bang Chan is a genius) and always have them playing. If people haven’t mentioned you got to check out Victory Song (both M/V and MAMA performance). Also Red Lights and Drive. You won’t be disappointed. I wrote a quite lengthy comment and it contained a link to an article but sadly youtube deleted it🥲🥲 I was saying how i loved ur reaction as always And how the kids worked so hard on this album and song And how its highly influenced by the korean culture and how the song itself and the music video have a lot of references to korean folklore and culture (blue flame = goblins, traditional instruments used in the track and traditional dancers and outfits in the music video ) and how the kids used all of that to send their message of being unapologetically themselves and “noisy” And i recommended you read or watch interviews they had during that album era The teenvouge interview is actually great they explained all of what i said and their vision behind the album (sadly youtube wont let me link it in the comment) And cause its so influenced by korean culture they had a lot of AMAZING performances in year-end award ceremonies for this song You dont have to react to them but def check them out for your own enjoyment My favorite one is “ Stray Kids(스트레이키즈) - INTRO + THUNDEROUS(소리꾼) (2021 KBS Song Festival) | KBS WORLD TV 211217” Im not korean so im not the best person to explain all of this but its so Interesting and admirable to see how hard they worked on this record and whole album and it really shows !
