Btw to clarify, “comeback” in the kpop industry just means that they realeased another single, album, project, etc. You are right, they never broke up or anything like that, the comeback just means that the artist in question came back from their previous release. There could be either weeks, months or years between the releases and it would still be called a “comeback.”
@nickparkertv
@nickparkertv Жыл бұрын
Gotcha thank you for the clarification! I didn't read anything about a break up and comeback is used a lot so they can't be breaking up every few years lol. Comeback is another way to say back with a brand new release.

I also love that this song was in reaction to very specific complaints. "You are to loud." Or, "you aren't koriean enough. You are to western." So they made a song with traditional Korean instruments, and made it louder.

Just to add, before that album Stray Kids were criticized alot for their controversal/mala taste genre. Many toxic ppl would call their music as 'noisy' or construction music. Which links to the God's Menu as the construction site (for construtiing their music making their own unique sound). As for this album in Thunderous it's called NOEASY (word play as noisy) for those 'naggers' directed at the toxic people who criticized their music. So Stray Kids instead of retracting they pushed forward and expressed themselves even louder, which is really awesome. BTW I enjoyed the reaction, hope to see more Stray Kids.

I was reading about the criticism they were receiving about their music. I’m glad they stuck with their guns and continued with their own style. Not every song or style is for everyone but clearly Stray Kids’s style is for a lot of people including myself. Thank you for the information about the construction site being a reference in gods menu, I didn’t know that. Thank you for enjoying the video. More stray kids will come! Working out a schedule for better balance.

@@nickparkertv , this might be duplicate info but I didn't see if anyone explained the race track in God's Menu. One of the cars had a Stray Kids side logo and that car out paced the other cars. Kind of saying they win against competitors.

You should react to Dance Practice videos too. By the way it’s called ‘practice’ but it’s actually not a practice. These videos just shows the dance fully without any cuts and edits. So it’s perfect way to see the choreo. They release the choreography videos and call it dance practice since they dont have stage clothes and they wear casually

So a lot of people touched on the term comeback but also in between those comebacks the groups aren’t necessarily laying low or anything in the Korean entertainment industry we are constantly getting new things whether that be variety shows, tours, vlogs, live streams, little videos of them playing games, etc. and I feel like this is very unique to Korean vs the western music industry like sure artists here in america go on tour and go on talk shows and what not but in K-pop there is just floods of content I’ve been listen to K-pop for over a decade and have been a Stay specifically for 4 years and there is still content that I am finding that I missed. Stray Kids especially put out sooo much content and have such high amount of interactions with their fan base they put out SKZ-codes which are videos usually of them doing activities or playing games or going on trips, they have their individual vlogs, they have usually weekly live streams (chan goes live almost every Friday/Saturday/Sunday and it’s called Chan’s room) Lee Know has his live called 리노래방 (lino raebang) which is a play on words as noraebang in Korean is Karaoke and his name Lee Know so Lee Know karaoke. The others also go live from time to time. We also get solo releases of songs called skz-records or skz-players, sometimes hyunjin will release dances he choreographed, like many other groups we get not only music videos but dance practices and performance videos when they do release albums but unlike a lot of other groups who usually only have one or two music videos for an album we tend to get quite a few Maxident had 4 music videos out of 8 songs one of which was just a Korean version of a Japanese release that already has a music video and Oddinary had 4 music videos out of 7 songs. Then during the actual comeback we get a live performance of their new song from pretty much every music show which is a new performance every day for 1-2 weeks and around the end of the year is when K-pop has a bunch of award shows/performances where a bunch of different groups perform sometimes doing collab stages like Stray Kids almost never rest I’m convinced the max amount of sleep Chan gets a night is 4 hours

"Comeback" in Korea is the latest release or newest album. So coming back with their next project. Comebacks also come with a full promotional sequence, interviews and variety shows, and live performances on music award shows that are very popular in Korea. Edit: When kpop uses the term "color" they mean it in terms of the groups sound, aesthetic, and overall vibe.

Really enjoy your reactions! Love that you go into depth and pay attention to details you normally wouldnt know :)) About the injuries in the mv: a lot of kpop groups have stories/lore throughout their mvs and the skz lore is kinda complicated but the main thing is that they dimension-travel and they get hurt during the process. Thats why you can see them injured in a lot of mvs haha. Clones also play a heavy roll, as you saw in the case 143 mv and will see in mvs such as 'All in' and 'circus' (both japanese songs) About the meaning of comeback: bc kpop groups have so much going on (whole dances, complicated mvs, stages) they count every 'single' as a come back. Most of the time its accompanied by an album so kpop groups would have 2 to 4 comebacks/singles a year. They perform on special stages for a couple weeks to promote and then they have the chance to win awards based on sales. Its like a huge deal its not just an mv drop. Thats why they 'come back'. They dont disband or anything like that hahaha
@nickparkertv
@nickparkertv Жыл бұрын
Ahhh gotcha, I was reading that SKZ also had something of interconnecting story line in their music videos too. Might be something to explore once the schedule lightens up a bit. Multiverse AND clones... a lot of comic book things! Comeback with the context of back with another album makes a lot sense, I was like there is no way these groups are breaking up and coming back every years lol Thank you for enjoying the video 🙏

If you want to check out dancing of just Hyunjin, I recommend checking out his solo dance covers. I'd say watch them all🤣 but my personal favorite is his dance cover of a song called "Play With Fire". He choreographed it himself when he came back after having to go on a hiatus (break from group activities) from Stray Kids due to false bullying rumors about him a while back. It is an amazing choreography where he really expresses his feelings and how his journey was throughout his hiatus.

I started to listen to kpop 1,5 years ago and I discovered SKZ and they became my favourite group almost immediately as soon as I got into the genre. My favourite title track is "side effects". another song I adore from them is "slump" - there is no MV, but there is a live performance at "1 take" channel which I recommend (they performed a japanese version of the song there), and I would also recommend an english version of this song (you could listen to a lyrics video).

even though i've been a kpop stan for 3 years, i actually didn't know that number represented an age limit. guess you learn something new every day! as for r-rated ones: i only know of one, which is neverland by holland (and maybe other mvs by holland). he's one of the very few openly gay kpop idols (he's a soloist), and - god forbid - has shown himself kissing another man in his debut MV (and in other MVs). unfortunately, being gay is still highly stigmatised by the grand public in korea, so his mv was rated R. the kiss is very tame, however (at least in his debut. in "not afraid" there are also kisses which are a lot less tame lol) there might be others, but i don't know those.

I'm not the most up-to-date with SKZ, but I really enjoyed this video! This MV has iconic status, SKZ MVs are so detailed. BTW It might interest you to know that Bang Chan and Jungkook from BTS are actually pretty close friends. Even though JK is the youngest in BTS and Chan is the eldest in Stray Kids, they are actually the same age. A bunch of idols from different companies and groups who were all born in 1997 apparently hang out and have a group chat together haha. It's cool to see when the different groups you like crossover with each other, it happens a lot. SKZ say they look up to BTS as role models. Even though their style is distinct, once you know, it's easy to see the inspiration they've taken from BTS in their music and visuals.

Ateez as a whole is on the list to check out. We still have Black Pink and New Jeans too! The end of January is loaded with wrapping up 2 Cool 4 Skool and a few extras but I promise we will continue exploring more groups.
