I for one find those lids tricky beggars, I've actually splashed something in myself through that tiny hole multiple times - you get overconfident with sloshing and you can't keep an eye on it (pun intended), a droplet indeed seems to jump straight up out of it . Also if some liquid gets on the top of the lid and you press it just so, it springs back and bounces it all over you.
