We kinda do something similar in house/EDM tracks. During the buildups we slowly bring down the gain (around -2dB). This will help the drop hit a lot more!

I’ve wondered about the proper way to do this. Automating section volume while mixing can hit your mixbus comps differently and change the sound, as you mentioned. And doing it before limiting can do the same and then the limiter is kinda working against you. Two limiters is so simple but I’ve never thought to do it this way! Great tip 🙏

@Madrrrrrrrrrrr
@Madrrrrrrrrrrr 3 жыл бұрын
@@jyryhalonen4990 Not if you understand dynamics. And this was never produced to be dynamic. This is only produced to sound okish on ipods (so cheap small consumer electronics) and shops on low volume. If you play this in a club at 105db you can throw away your hearing after some hours. And btw this is an old trick. Every serious engineer rides the faders.

@Madrrrrrrrrrrr
@Madrrrrrrrrrrr Жыл бұрын
@@lucianocastillo694 Depends on the source and the space inside a track but most of the time i use a limiter as it is supposed to be. Just to protect 0 db/clipping. And i keep it as dynamic as possible while using as much bits as possible.
