Marcela is one of my all time favorite vocalists. Such a dark and haunting vocal style. Amazing range and emotional impact. The guys are great as well. Johan Van Stratum is one of the best bassists in all of metal. He plays with such passion and is so entertaining to watch perform. His bas tone is monstrous as well.

I love this band, especially Marcela's voice! But don't forget to give kudos to Arjen Lucassen for creating the band and then letting them grow creatively! Well done Arjen and everyone in the band!

This is like a perfect mix... The music don't over-power the vocals and vice versa.. Such a beautiful voice Marcela has... Don't get me wrong I love my metal brutal, but at times I love these female fronted bands...

I love their first album! Embrace the Storm was simply one of the most amazing things I've ever heard! It's been seven years since the album was released and I'm still additcted to it! Unfortunately I didn't like their second album (except for The Art of Loss) and I didn't like "Darker Days" either. I don't know what is wrong with me, because I WANT to like their music, I love Marcela's voice SO MUCH, but I just can't feel anything about their music since "Embrace the Storm".

I most certainly agree :) I discovered Marcela on the Human Equation album, and quickly found Stream of Passion through a video that featured Arjen in it. Arjen and S.O.P. would have done amazingly touring together. :) But Arjen is a busy man; and be sure to keep an eye out for his developing new album, Theory of Everything! And has S.O.P any news on new music lately? I'm uber curious...

@MountainPeak11 I already know Epica and they are by far the most interesting Symphonic Metal band I heard. I have to admit, that I had to generalise to express my view on Symphonic Metal, but most of it just does not seem to be my cup of tea. One or two bands can't change my view on the whole genre. Thanks anyway!

@Sabotaged858 There are enough really good screamers out there. Ever heard of Arkona, Into Eternity, Finntroll, Carpathian Forest, At the Gates or Death? These are some bands with pretty good guttural vocals. If you can listen to Symphonic Metal, I am happy for you. I just cannot get into the genre, the guitar riffs and drumming are quite boring and the vocals are always prefered to every over instrument in the band.
