If our banks were clearer, I would. You can barely throw a spinning rod, the creek is small. Imagine I could kneel back and just dangle and flip though. I've dangled stringers on my spinning set up but with no luck, so back to jerking.

Next time in east TN hit Stoney Creek. Not stocked great but some monster browns. Caught 2 monsters this time of year. Biggest a 32"er and a 28 in same hole. Night crawler though so kinda cheating. Rarely fish for trout with anything but a jerk bait or spinner. Watauga is great as well. Tail of stoney creek.

Change your bad luck head gear OR walk your fish downstream, keeping tip up & line tight, take fish to a more favorable looking landing location with deeper water. Good luck!

I really enjoy watching the parts of your videos where you walk through you thought process and how you approach the stream. Definitely trying to up my streamer game. I do have a question, do you strip set? I know you're very animated with the rod on the retrieve, and I'm wondering if that has any negative impact on your hook sets
@hardmanfishingКүн бұрын
So yes and no, I’m a firm believer that strip setting isn’t always the correct answer, ESPECIALLY on small water. Also yes the way I work the streamer does make it difficult at times to strip set. But it’s also the reason I catch so many big fish. Introducing slack into your retrieve allows the streamer to swing back and forth and gives the fur a moment to move with the current
@mattkoch31178 сағат бұрын
@hardmanfishing thanks man! Hoping to get out there and start playing around with more dynamic retrieves

Big female. I know you fish West Virginia but do you ever get into Central Pennsylvania like Letort, Big Spring, Green Spring, Yellow Breeches and Trindle Spring and Hogestown Run? Hogestown now wild Brown stream and Trindle Wild Rainbows.
@hardmanfishingКүн бұрын
I’ve been in that area before, even fished it briefly. But never to film a video
@sclewell777Күн бұрын
Well I have to be honest. It's not fished very hard. I know that the Letort has big German Browns. I've seen 20 plus fish. Very hard to catch. Very smart. My biggest Brown came from Trindle Spring. 22 inches 5 pounds released. Love to have you in the area to film. @hardmanfishing

@@sclewell777 We'll see! If I made the trip it would probably be in the spring
@RuHunterX22 сағат бұрын
In my opinion you get anxius, this movs of the rod are not natural, better to move just the line or let the streamer just go down the waters naturally if you see that they are spoky, and man fight the fish until its tired dont go for it like that cause it a los fish point. Fod goes to mouth, not mouth goes to food. Some advices that where really nice on my fishing life. Nice video man

@zachpinnell1498Күн бұрын
Great video. I say post it all - good & bad. That’s fishing! Also, when wading streams like this, do you always use floating lines for streamers? Lot of those spots with pushy water up top I was wondering if things might go better with a sinking line to cut through to the softer water below.
@hardmanfishingКүн бұрын
I probably could’ve used sinking line on this spot, but yeah I used floating line.
@zachpinnell1498Күн бұрын
@ just curious. I’m still figuring it out. Seem to be doing better now with sinking. But I see how well you do with floating and I can tell I am missing something else. Thank you sir.

Is it possible to throw bigger streamers (circus peanuts, sex dungeons, etc.) on a 5wt? I’d rather not have to get a whole new setup for them but If a 5wt is just too light I might
@hardmanfishingКүн бұрын
Of course! I used to. But it’s not ideal and that 5 wt did eventually break 😂 but it took a few years
@mpfishing5530Күн бұрын
@ nice. The biggest fish I could see myself realistically catching in the waters I fish would be 18-22 inches at the absolute max, and I wouldn’t have to be making super long casts since they are smaller creeks so my 5wt should do fine
@hardmanfishing19 сағат бұрын
@@mpfishing5530 Yep in that case a 5 wt will work well. It's the long casts that are difficult to make, so if you're just doing short casts it'll work.
