After several years of painting in watercolor, acrylic, resin & silk dyes, I finally picked up oil painting & plein air painting last year. Once I saw Bill’s demo, it hit me & made so much sense. So I jumped in with both feet & learned so much from 2 of his amazing workshops. Not to mention how much FUN we had💟🎨👩🏻🎨 Love his talent, teaching style, technique, positivity & enthusiasm!

How does he do it? Does he mix piles of gray and then mix color into the grays?

This was great and made great sense. Is there something similar for watercolorists?

Eric I love so many of the videos you have had made for artists which enables them to learn from so many wonderful, established artists. Every once in a while I find an artist who is so great and now has left this earth and there is no video to show us how they created their magic. On another note, isn’t there any way to take the videos by Richard Schmid and change them to something we could stream. My guess is you’ve already looked into that.

Instead of using a 9 step value finder he’s using three values and finding different values within them

Huh? How can you find more values within values?

Unfortunately this lesson was very challenging to follow. It would have been far better in my opinion, for him to have started with the image being painted on a blank canvas to understand how he established the values. Then add the colour on top of the painted grey scale values to help understand what it is he is trying to say. Too confusing to follow.

"There is no instant success in painting." But what about Hunter Biden? Instantly begins selling his paintings for $250K and higher. 😃😃

Talking about value and color and never showing your palett makes the whole lesson a waste of time.
