Man, this is a throwback. I remember when basically every MSTS/Trainz KZbinr made their own music video of this song.

Ngl, I kinda chuckled when I saw the amount of background characters used. It's kinda unique there. Good work! 👍

Solid edit. Amazing to think that the USA was once on top when it came to luxury passenger trains...

Thanks. Yeah, American passenger trains were top tier back then; they really knew how to cater to the middle class. Amtrak is lackluster these days compared to how train travel used to be.

I kind of wish this song was written as a "Thank You" to Amtrak. "Long ago there was a day when it looked like the rails would die away" "Other machines were much stronger and faster" - This would be a nice reference to how the airline and highways killed off passenger rail and for that matter rail in general in America. This obviously failed when the oil embargo happened and because even diesel trains use less oil than cars and planes, people went back to the railroads. And when you think about it, many streamliners are still alive, just in a different form, that is Short Intercity and Long Distance Cruise (the latter of which for those who want to visit smaller tourist spots that lack an air connection and those who can't afford to fly but are willing to spend extra time traveling and also those who travel for fun). Passenger rail is making a comeback, just in a different form.

Continuing from my pervious comment, the reason why railroads in general (especially in the long intercity express passenger and less than carload high priority freight sectors) are more successful in Europe and Japan is because of basic human geography favoring rail use. Here's what I mean. Europe and Japan are small countries with the land obstacles in the middle and direct routes along the coast. The lay of the land is basically: one massive city with many smaller ones around it. This creates a HUB AND SPOKE model which is what railroads were designed with in mind. This ENCOURAGES rail use. On the contrary, America is a huge country with land obstacles EVERYWHERE requiring you to curve around them to get to your destination. The lay of the land is many large cities with little ones in between. This creates a POINT TO POINT model which is what airlines and highways were designed with in mind. This DISCOURAGES rail use, and causes America to rely on planes, cars, trucks, and buses more than Europe and Japan where rail is more common. I mean, if you're not confined to rails you can steer around obstacles, and if you have wings then land obstacles don't exist! In a point to point environment like America, passenger rail is only viable in: Short intercity express (like the Northeast Corridor, Pacific Surfliner, Pennsylvanian, and other state-funded routes) Long distance as a cruise (meaning like I said, those who travel for fun and those who are willing to go slower as they can't afford to fly or do not wish to fly) And yet sometimes I feel like our government is acting like it's the 50s and long distance intercity rail will be viable.
