Sylvie and Julien are married and parents of a little Julie. Their respective parents Christine and Roland who have never been able to get along, have always avoided meeting, until the day they fall in love with each other without their offspring knowing.

Secretly, the lovers decide to take a trip to Venice, not daring to imagine the reaction of their children when they learn the truth. Even though nothing stands in the way of their happiness, a family friend, Jean-Marie, convinced that Christine can no longer stand solitude since the death of her husband Philippe, plans to marry her, much to the dismay of Roland, who considers him a rival, especially since at their granddaughter's birthday dinner to which they were invited, Jean-Marie asks Christine to marry him. Even though the latter has rejected her suitor in private, Roland is mistaken and doubts Christine's sincerity for a while. After clearing up any misunderstanding, the two lovebirds decide to spend more time together.
But their plan is put to the test when Sylvie, who suspects Julien of having an affair with Laura, an office colleague, decides to leave him and move in with her daughter with her mother. Needless to say, for Christine and Roland, the timing of announcing their love to their loved ones seems ill-chosen...
