Is a5/6 7/8 fly rod good for trout and bass fishing? please respond soon thanks

Hey Cesar! It really depends on the average size of the fish you are catching. I would lean more towards a 6 weight… it may be a little but heavy for smaller trout and a little light for bigger bass but it puts you in that middle so you can handle a wide variety of fish. If you plan on doing a lot more trout fishing I would go with a 5 weight. If you plan on doing more bass fishing I would go with a 7 weight. Hope this helps!

Pretty sure the weight of the fly rod refers to the line weight (based in grains) that it is designed to throw. 4 wt rod designed to throw 4 wt line for example. There is an industry standard of line head weights in grains per line. That isn't to say there aren't problems with the system. But, the heavier the line the bigger flies it can cast.

The weight of a fly rod refers to the line # it is designed to cast. It's incorrect that the weight (in ounces) of a rod corresponds to the line weight. My 5 weight bamboo rod weighs much more than my 7 weight graphite rod.
