Fun Fact: My name during development was originally written to be *YU* (Japanese: "Abundant", "rich", or "plentiful"), in which I was named after the game's planner Hiroshi/Yūji Matsumoto. Hiroshi later rewrote my name to *KEN* to mean "Fist" to fit alongside Ryu's name, as well as a it being a Japanese/English pun that is short for the US/UK masculine name *Kenneth.* In addition to the creation, Hiroshi also grew my blonde hair from jaw-legnth to neck-length after my beta appearance of Street Fighter I's prototype.

I really really enjoyed this game when it came in 1987. It was too hard for me then, i was a 10 years old child. But despite the difficult, i used to spent many quarters trying to beat the game. Of course i never could do that. Good and sweet memories from the best decade; The 80's.

Why? The first Street Fighter was diabolical, doesn't hold up well by today's standards at all, at least Street Fighter 2 is still playable. They literally all say the same quote when they're defeated in this one: - "What strength!! But don't forget there are many guys like you all over the world". Listen to how they say it as well, not even attempting to act the line out, the guy sounds like he can't even read off the dummy card 😆

Probably some more but these are the only ones coming to mind. I remember playing this when I was 12 in the arcades. Learning the special moves without internet was the best. This definitely low level difficulty. I remember Mike would slay you quick if you didn’t know how to throw fireballs. Retsu always was trash no matter what lol. Adon was harder to figure out to beat that Sagat. You definitely needed the dragon punch. Birdie was weakness was the hurricane kick. Eagle was hard sometimes. Lee easy, could jab him to death. Gen would connect multiple hits so you had to be careful with him. I loved this game back in 88
@dubbzz23493 ай бұрын
Ha .. I wouldn't agree low difficulty. It was the first time a combination of joystick movement and button pressing created a move. That was revolutionary. Dragon the whole way . Saget would counter dragon though.

When performing moves in Street Fighter, the current lever position won't allow you to perform Hadokens or similar moves. If you're doing it correctly, press it down. If you don't do it, you won't be able to perform Hadokens, Shoryukens, or Tatsumaki Senpukyakus.

Maybe, almost noone noticed that at 2:51 you get to fight against Mike. He is none other than BALROG (in USA/EUROPEAN Street fighter 2 and so on), but his original (Japanese game) name is M. Bison (Mike Bison, because he is a boxer, dark-skinned and resembles Mike Tyson, in honor to him). In Usa and Europe, we all know that Balrog is the Boxer, Vega is the spanish cage-fighter with claws and M.Bison is "Mister Bison", the psico-powered Shadaloo Boss. But, in the original (Japanese) game, the boxer is M. Bison (Mike Bison), the spanis cage-fighter is Balrog and the boss of Shadaloo is Vega! But, since Capcom feared lawsuits from Mike Tyson (who gave no rights to use his name and/or his appearance), they switched the names.
@roderickstockdale16787 ай бұрын
General M. Bison because he is the commanding general of that island and no that was not just for the movie, that was his original story. And that’s part of the connection because Balrog is the name of the battleship in Strider.

Mike Byson (USA), Balrog (Spain), and Vega (Thailand, or wherever Shadaloo hangs it's hat) changed their names due to localization issues. We could argue in-universe as agents of Shadaloo, they could have swapped names around to confuse people. Byson goes by "Balrog", Balrog goes by "Vega" And Vega goes by "Major Bison".
