These statistics are filtered by master ranks of 1750 MR or higher. You won't find a higher sample quality. Would tournament data be better? Yes and no. Obviously taking all your data from offline matches with real stakes would be ideal, but there are a lot of things you have to keep in mind by going that route. 1. You would be drastically lowering the sample size by limiting the matches to tournament play. 2. It would be very difficult to enact the quality control by player rank because players aren't logged into their accounts at tournaments. You could try to match players to CIDs and filter results that way, but it would be a painstaking process even if it was possible, not to mention it would reduce the sample size even further. 3. The necessary character information simply isn't recorded to get the data after the fact, unless you wanted to limit it to matches that are preserved in VOD form, thereby minimizing the sample size to the point of irrelevance. At that point, the data becomes useless. Online ranked by MR total is the best way to ensure both the quality of competition and the depth value of the data.

I think Ken is pretty good, but can't agree that he carries players. The character distribution per rank implies that Honda, JP, Dee Jay, Juri, and Kimberly are the most "carried" characters.

I feel like there's a whole other video we could make on the subject of tier listings and how SF6 is evolving them. Games like 3S might actually be more balanced than we think they are, but we're never going to know because you would need comprehensive matchup data among players of a certain level, during those games' peak activity. If we're lucky, maybe Sega and Namco could pull that data from Virtua Fighter 4 and on, and Tekken 5 and on, but literally everything else is lost to time. :(

FChamp already counted how many characters past 1900 MR. Guess who came out on top? And if you said JP you're right but he's also tied with Ken. Medium Jinrai pretty much requires you to know the spacing and still make a guess. The fact that he can delay it and get conversions even to super from counter hit or trade is what's fucked up and why? Because you blocked a low in Street Fighter. The only consistent way to deal with it is to ODDP. If you jab after he whiffs the low in a medium jinrai I believe he does get whiff punish depending on range. Maybe not cr. MK since it's in a the grey 7f zone but his 6f cr. MP should be able to punish. Also Ken's dragon lash beats most lows in this game you can't simply jab cr. LP it. And you don't even get full punish for checking it since he's airborne. It's is still pretty reactable to DI so I don't care that much.

Ken does carry people and the soul reason being is his tools that are yes, punishable but the consolidation of said gaps and gimmicks. You’re not going to punish dragonlash everytime or even L.jinrai for that matter in a proper blockstring. Even if you took away jinrai entirely and left everything else he would still be top tier, if they copy pasted usf4 ken and gave him sf6 frames and dmg he would STILL be amongst the strong in the game. Fighting Ken is like saying “ name 5 DDG song or your dead”

Honda,Kimberly,Blanka,Cammy, Rashid skip neutral with stronger specials tha dragonlash- fine Ken- uses one move that you can di, drive parry, dp, neutral jump, jab out of the air and armor thru(depending on the character)- not cool and carried Least unhinged ken hater

I don't think anyone is saying he can't be beat but he is ridiclously good the only ken mains I hate on are ones being incredibly passive or just wake up dp over and over I use the same thing for other characters like kim poofing over and over lol or jamie hard to deal with lol any character can be beat but at the higher ranks ken is just so good and other characters need to be buffed being a ryu main I do want ryu buffed in some areas but I think his damage is really good

I feel for Ryu, fr. There are certain things he can't do that Ken can do (like link cr.LP into st.LK), and it just doesn't make sense. Ken has a lot of versatility AND a lot of people using him. It's mostly that second part that makes him so hard to deal with, in my opinion, because it can be wildly different one Ken player to the next. Going back to Ryu, though, he's one of the few characters that I agree could use buffs. Like, maybe make that Denjin charge faster, or even stackable like drinks/medals.
