Worth noting: Ken lost 7 frames of advantage on his OD DP (was +29, now +22) His lvl 1 super lost a LOT, it was +35, now it's +9

Thanks for all the patch notes videos Vesper! As a Ken main I was really looking forward to this one. I was expecting worse honestly, but happy that it was just little bits of nerfs and nothing major. I didn’t really have anything I was wishing for with Ken, feel like he’s in a really good spot and hoping that Tokido’s Ken wins Capcom Cup.

Jinrai kicks lose to delayed light. Literally 1 option from any character in the game beats ALL jinrai followups (including empty). Anyone still complaining about jinrai is just a straight scrub.

I’ve never understood this though, because DI and Perry absolutely stomp Ken’s jinrai. Heavy jinrai won’t get used unless it’s true out of anything but cr hp, especially since his mixup game is not good. i don’t play him much, but also don’t understand how nerfing options out of his run is a good choice - his run stop sees so little use outside of run stop combo, so why hit it the straight kick and give him less options? It seems like they really are trying to make one kind of Ken player, which will make even more people bitter

Looking forward to the whole video. But as a preface, I'm kind of glad how they went about the nerfs. Since ken has above average range, extreme fast moves and great corner carry, he shouldn't also have constant Oki after every exchange either. SOMETHING had to give. Him just having everything after every exchange was so stupid. I probably would have preferred him to just have more minus frames on block. But this will have to do

That back throw nerf is more than just a little one btw. Every other character can PP into backthrow in the corner, and then put you in a mixup. Ken will be the ONLY character in the game that can't. Also, Ken's sweep was always punishable on block at max range by all characters? So what now they just made it require 0 timing to do so? Awesome, make the game more braindead lol. Nerfing the step kick is so weird, since its just a free DI every time. If you are just doing random step kick you are just asking to get wombo-combo'd. Nerfing his OD DP is insane. It was already one of the weaker invincible reverse being one of, if not the only one that loses to DI. And it can still hit on the first hit, but whiff on the second, then not combo into the second half of the move. Also, we don't use medium Jinrai because its "cracked". We use it because heavy whiffs against crouch and then you get punish countered lol. Plus, anyone complaining about Jinrai in this day and age is just bad at the game. ALL jinrai options lose to "block low into delayed light". Its the exact same timing as a delayed throw-tech, but you just press 1 button instead of 2. You get a guaranteed punish counter of empty, low, medium and heavy followups. Considering Ken has just been a weaker version of Luke since DAY 1... You can only cry so much before you just have to accept you suck at the game if still think Ken is OP (he isn't even top 5, not even be top 10 at this point with how much other characters got buffed lol).

I get where you’re coming from with SOME of what you’re saying but Ken is not even a little weaker than Luke and hasn’t been since the game was brand new. Even then, that’s debatable. In fact you could sweep Zangief and if he blocked it and tried to sweep back, you could just stand HK or sweep punish counter him. Stop making us Ken mains look like babies, he got away light.
