I think when is comes to the 2d animation style, we are well over due for SFA4! We have the SF3 cast, the new characters from SFIV and also the new cast in SFV. So what if they did a SFA4 type game with everyone in it with the different meters from various games in a new 2d hyper animated art style? This would bring everyone from each different SF game back together like how SFA3 did. I think this would feed the whole oh I want a 2d SF game itch. And to kick SFA4 off, they should release a new SFA complete collection with ALL versions with full online modes like vs, tournament, ranked, training mode as well as offline!

Oh and I do not want Remy over Guile ever! You can have both for SF6 not just Remy sorry! I hope Capcom does not put SF6 on tue Switch because it would hold the game back unless it is its own standalone separate version of the game! But yes SF6 needs to be on next gen PS5, Xbox Series X and PC. I also feel like having SF6 on last gen will hold is back some as well with it having better graphics and different input delay levels.

Our remote podcast setup can make it a little weird to hear each-other talking at times. Ideally, we could all be in the same room and cast but it's almost impossible. In a few episodes we made some adjustments to hopefully alleviate some of the audio-ducking that was causing us to chat over one another. Simply put, sometimes we'd just not hear the other person speaking at all. Should be fixed in later episodes!

I guess maybe cause Max and Matt are more fun fact/dev trivia/character focused in their love of fighting games while Justin would obviously be more gameplay mechanics focused. Not that any of them of course don't have knowledge on the other but these kinds of discussions tend to focus more on the former than the latter, especially on a title we have no gameplay for yet. And also of course due to the nature's of their channels Max and Matt would find more ease with talking at length about this stuff than Justin would. But his input as the only high level competitive player is of course absolutely valued regardless

The official director for Street Fighter Takayuki-Nakayama from his Twitter was answering questions from a fan regarding the timeline to specific SFV Arcade endings. But most importantly, Nakayama confirmed SF6 would take place sometime after 3S. For example, the little girl seen in Chun Li’s ending is the same one she rescues in 3S. Nakayama clarified some of the arcade endings take place before, during & after 3S. With him specifically stating Ed forming Neo Shadaloo is happening during the events of SF3, Sean winning a tournament is Laura’s ending is set parallel to Ed’s ending. We learn the name of the Gorilla, which is seen in Ed’s prologue ending; Baba Miwalimu is it Swahili for Father/Teacher. Also, every member of Neo Shadaloo inherited a different trait from M.Bison. Ed can eject psycho power, Falke can infusion psycho power, Baba has intelligence & the fourth unnamed member can teleport. Also, confirming Bison will come back at some point.

It's impressive that certain SFV Arcade endings are canon (minus the 'What If?' scenarios that alter the events of 'A Shadow Falls'), since most Arcade endings are non-canon, or semi-canon. Notably, 'Mortal Kombat X' tried to do something similar; where almost every Klassic Tower ending is implied to be canon (though the ending of Erron Black, Shinnok, and the guest fighters are obviously 'What If?' scenarios). Only for all but one (Ermac's ending, which is referenced in a non-canon intro exchange with Kitana and Shang Tsung) of them to be contradicted or ignored in 'Mortal Kombat 11'.

I honestly really look forward to Luke's role in SF6. Even though SFV's final season wasn't planned initially, it was a great move on Capcom's to introduce Luke there. Before, they'd just plop these new randos with each game and state "See this Abel guy you've never heard of? Yeah he's the main protagonist now". Luke is different because we actually got a taste of him and of his (really) short backstory that hopefully they flesh out in SF6. Him being in SFV first will make the transition much smoother Plus this is legit the first time they *actually* have faith in the new MC SFIV reveal: a fight between 2 icons - Ryu and Ken SFV reveal: offscreen footage between 2 icons - Ryu and Chun-li SF6 reveal: Ryu - the MC of the old generation comes in clash with Luke - the MC of the new generation I'm like one of the 172 Luke fans on Earth lol, I genuinely love the guy and his SF6 design is REALLY memorable to me. I'm real tired of Ryu being the constant posterboy so maybe having Luke, Sean and Sakura become the new-gen protags would be a breath of fresh air

Capcom already solved the issue of single player content for fighting games way back in 1998 courtesy of Rival Schools: an arcade mode with dynamic story for each school and multiple endings for each student depending on choice and win conditions, a school life sim that was sadly cut from Western releases because it was 1998 but would sell non-FG players on the game now, and several mini-games & modes that gave you more to do outside of fighting games. It would really be a shame if Capcom went all around the world looking for a solution to their FG dilemma when they had the answer all this time long before anyone else did (ArcSys used the story mode model in Guilty Gear XX & BlazBlue). Just this time don’t allow whatever contract problems that are preventing any rerelease of the Rival Schools games on modern platforms to happen again.
@ShockyD2 жыл бұрын

The talk about character representation brought up a unique idea for future fighting games moving forward: -Let's change which movelist represents each country in further iterations of said fighting game. For example, the grappler could be from USA, the charge character can be from Spain, the button masher could be from africa, etc. Then when the next iteration or game comes out, change up the movelists and change which character from which location does which style of button play. That way, it changes who is represented, how the game is played, and how to keep things fresh in each iteration of each fighting game. Sounds odd, but when they brought up how many blonde hair american bashers there are in the game, I thought about how each character can change up the button style and go from there.

I know Max is scared that Capcom won't move past the III timeline because they've been stupid about doing that for over a decade...but I'm surprised he missed that parts of V's story has already moved beyond III and the director has confirmed that with a few endings. (Urien's is a good example with him calling Gill the Emperor. Gill only becoming that during the events of III) They literally have nowhere else to go. lmao I mean I feel like it's obvious because Luke and Ryu's age is very telling. It's definitely been a number of years since V. And we know that even back before the confirmation of V having moved past III, the III Saga was only like a year away from the events of 'A Shadow Falls.' Like...I get his fear but they've done so many prequels, Capcom literally got cornered out. There is ABSOLUTELY no where else to go, unless you want to work with very very VERY small window of time between the moments of V and or during III...and that feels so stupidly complicated, I think Capcom would fear doing that more than just moving forward. Maybe the groove or "v trigger" will be different for every character. Luke gets this new style of colors and Ryu has the SF4 ink effects (as seen in the reveal).

Honestly the only podcast I watch and I'm not even that verse in the FGC, I'm as casual as they come. The three of you are just really entertaining loving all the episodes so far Also when talking about characters why does no one talk about my boy Sean???

SF6 is post SF3. There's a few parts of the character stories that take place after 3.

It didn't seem like Justin is involved in this episode as much, while Max was in a lot of conversations, though I think he should give the others a chance to finish. But this is an awesome episode.

Luke isn't blond anymore? Care to take another look, Max? lol Honestly, I'm absolutely baffled that some people couldn't tell it was Luke in the trailer until the arm pump. Blond hair with shaved underside, blue & orange clothing, dog tags, and the fact that Capcom had been emphasizing that he's SF6's new face... it was clear as day to me that it was Luke from the moment I saw him.

I just want a good roll back Alpha 3 with all characters, without the infinites that kind of fubar'd it for competitive (at least in the west, Japan loves Alpha 3 competitive), and a basic ranked system that's just SF4 Arcade PP/BP again. Alpha 3 is what tore me away from only Chun and Dee Jay and turned me into a Mika/Chun main which sticks even today with SF5. Somewhat excited to see what she gets with the patch; I can't imagine it'll be a lot, but a guy can hope.

As far as them not wanting to go past the SF3 timeline. I think it's more them not wanting to go that far past SF2. They want to keep most of the core cast and keep them as close to their original designs as possible for nostalgic purposes. SF4 was pretty much just SF2 again as far as character designs go.

Worth noting when Max talks about all the games in the CFC being CPS-2 games, Red Earth was actually the first CPS-3 game, so it's not *quite* the same but it's still pretty similar I would assume

I've been thinking and I think active passives for fighting games characters would be Hella interesting. Let's say ryu who's known for his hadoken, gets a aura around him for every hadoken/shoryuken that cleanly lands. Essentially leveling him up either with new moves or buffs to existing moves and rewarding the player for playing ryus mid range playstyle correctly. For an rushdown character that's able to open his opponent up he gains more chip damage for doing so. Grappler gains a bit of armor for light attacks after an spd. I think if they implemented this idea it could actually teach casual players to be better by just going for those buffs or specials. Idk 🤷🏾♂️

It is interesting that Arcade 1up is releasing all the Capcom/Marvel games, but there's no collection for consoles.

24:23 Yeah, I was gonna mention it back when Max was talking about Luke apparently being new rival for Ryu in SF6. What is with Street Fighter and blond American dudes? Ken, Guile, Cody, Alex, Luke and even freaking Rufus (bet you all forgot about him). Even better, if this actually goes into the future, Mel might end up showing up. 26:43 They're scared because we all know how SF3 did at launch and you'd have to age up characters even more than in 5. Even if they actually definitively killed Bison this time, I just know he's still gonna be playable, same way Heihachi was supposed to be "dead" in Tekken 5 (and fully expect him to be playable in Tekken 8). 27:42 Yeah, that's the acual biggest development of SF lore - Ryu embracing footwear for the first time since Street Fighter 1. 1:00:44 Eww, no. You know why this is terrible? Because it would mean you'd have to give Zangief MORE clothes and that's just wrong. The most Zangief should ever wear is that cape he'd throw away back in 2D games. 1:09:24 Think he's in the background of one of the stages, but yeah, I want Sodom too. Then go way back and bring back Eagle and Retsu/Geki and Sawada as the new joke character. 1:10:24 No, we gotta have both is something. I don't care it'd be two grapplers, we need that crossover finally. At least make a Haggar skin for Gief, but he's got completely different voicelines and maybe some pipe moves.

I really hope the uniqueness of the SFV season 5 fighters transfers to SF6, each character in that DLC wave felt like they had a ton of love and attention poured into them and so I hope every character in 6 has that
