Siberian Express/Russian Suplex aren't 360s. They are half circle backs and they have to be done backwards. Doing a 360 input with a kick will result in Siberian Express if you press kick during the jump squat only if you do the 360 in the backwards direction. If you do it in the forward direction it will always be dynamite.

Thanks so much for the Gief video guys, he has also been a character I really like but always struggled to use due to those 360 motions. This was very helpful and looking forward to trying get better with Gief in SF6.

One thing to do is buffer the motion. Block a hard attack and as the animation of the block is happening time the 360 to end with the animation.

Would have been cool if you could combo into his wide array of command grabs. I like combos that end with a grapple. You can do his special grabs and supers but not his command grabs. Well i couldn't do anything into them.

Testing a bit, you can use s.LP instead of c.LP for a ton of the light chains and get 100 extra damage

How do you guys do whiff punish D+MP, DR, D+MP, DF+MP into LV2? I really struggle with connecting lvl2 here. Is there an easy way to do it?

No combos with SPD, FOR SHAME! What's the point of using Zangief if you aren't using his SPD? I love jumping in deep with down fierce, then low forward, the finish with EX SPD, takes like half their energy.

I was messing around in training mode with Zangief and I notice most of these combos can be done on with modern controls. What the downside of Modern Zangief like hes missing crouching jab and he gets slight decrease in damage. But I feel like the positives out weighs the negatives in modern.

Modern kind of carries me to play so I will say that his game plan is the same but he really depends on gimmicks. Since you lose damage, you have to land more gimmicks, which can be tough when playing people who understand the gimmicks.

Modern gief doesn't have forward heavy kick, which means he loses out on max damage dp punish, he also doesn't have medium kick or crouch medium kick which means you literally have no good pokes in modern, it's just a gimmick that works until you start playing real neutral, modern gief is straight up worse
