PSP really has no problem for this game. GBA However is actually impressive, seeing it was able to run a 2D game more made for PS1/Saturn without cutting many corners. Even the music is decent!

The PSP version is not better than the GBA version, it is the best version of the game (unfortunately it is not included in the latest Street Fighter compilation), the GBA version is simply a fairly good version.

Guys please keep in mind street fighter alpha 3 gba was release 3 years before the psp ever existed. There was no way to play alpha 3 on the go in those days. No powerful pc handhelds to emulate games. This alpha 3 port was much more deadly in the time it came out. Yes it supports dramatic battle as well 60fps. It didn't have world tour but all the world tour options can be unlock in a cheat menu and applied to the gameplay! Also the intro theme is hidden in the cartridge.

Yeah, anyone who questions the appeal never tried to play fighting games on 80's and 90's portable hardware. The Neo Geo Pocket deserved more credit, but that library looked nothing like the original source material.

I actually bought this game on gba on release day, as i already had the DC version. I was only 17 so i was bit ignorant to just how incredible a port it was, or i guess more ignorant to just how powerful and capable the gba actually was in retrospect. I recently picked it up again for my gba library and the nostalgia is still live and well. Still to this day a beautiful and still fun port.

If there's something both of these platforms had in common, it's that they were swimming in quality games. Because the dual screen nature of the DS was something of a turnoff to me, I migrated to the PSP directly from the GBA. I had quite a few UMD movies too.

PSP version is the ultimate version of this game, since it brought all game modes and characters from every previous versions and added a few things, like Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution/Jam. The GBA port however is the most impressive, no corner cuts and less frame cuts than expected, faithful gameplay to Arcade release and even exclusive content like the CvS2 characters.

SNES version of Alpha 2 looks far more polished, but it has less characters to worry about, more vertical screen space to play with, and better artists adapting the sprites. None of which really matters during the actual gameplay. It was really Crawfish that sold me an SP.

In this case, the GBA offers us a very decent port on par with the original, without extra additions but solid with respect to its proposal. For its part, the PSP offers great graphic and sound quality, but too many additions that only hinder the essence of the game... out of place characters, meaningless options, etc., it could have been better.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max is the definitive way to play the game and thanks to the fact the PSP is a portable PS1 but a bit more powerful. BUT, Street Fighter Alpha 3 for the GBA was the GOAT. For a console that was a portable SNES, even with limitations, it's a big marvel in terms of development and content. Basically MAX took that version for its base. And even it plays smootly and so complete. Crawfish did a magnificent work with the port.

GBA is closer to the PS1 in specs than SNES. Also the PSP is quite a bit more powerful than the PS1 with it puhing way more polygons than the PS1 and with a much more powerful CPU. The CPU, based off raw clock speeds and not instructions per clock, are about 7 to 10 times faster depending on the CPU speed and plus it has a GPU

PSP is more like PS2 lite or Dreamcast Lite?. GBA, yes it's more powerful SNES and Mega Drive and specs are closer to PS1 but in term of visual it just more than SNES pro

SFA3 is by far and away the best GBA fighting game. All the gameplay elements are intact. The graphics are nice at first, but so many backgrounds are missing, and the low resolution of the screen really hurts the character details. Side by side with SFA2 on SNES it actually looks worse. I had this and the game was great!
