I love how Karin and Sakura are basically younger, female versions of Ken and Ryu.

Good catch. After 2 decades i only noticed it just now. Sakura = white, Karen = red. Sakura = wants to better herself(like Ryu), Karen = believes she is already at her best(like Ken). They, like Ken and Ryu, are also very good friends, AND Sakura was corrupted with Satsu No Hadou(although it's only in one game). To go even further, Karen's style is hard hitting like Ken's and Sakura obviously took up Ryu's style though she is still improving on the power of her hadokens.

both have the same stage, only the climate that changes

@@slithered The stage you see is the arcade version. The Cruise ship is the Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper and the Home PS version

karin has her own stage in sega saturn aswell

@@slithered The vanilla arcade version is actually the incomplete version (Karin having no stage of her own, Juli, Juni, Balrog having no character portraits of their own, etc.). Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper is the complete version and was released for the arcade (on the NAOMI arcade board) not long after the PS1, DC, and Saturn versions which are all SFA3U with the PS1 version being the OG. Vanilla SFA3 relegated Karin to Sakura's "F.L.O.W.E.R. Shopping District" stage with an early morning palette (whereas Sakura's is during the afternoon). This might have been done due to the CPS2 arcade board not having enough memory. Without the constraints of CPS2, Capcom was able to restore Karin's originally intended stage, which is "Aboard the S.S. Queen of Victory."
