Amiga version -- unforgivable. Some ports are a good attempt at trying to capture the gameplay on extremely limited hardware. Some are just so poorly done, the author(s) should still feel a sense of shame to this day.
@robintst3 жыл бұрын
Most likely it was first ported to the ST and they lazily converted that one to the Amiga with no changes outside of the music as most developers did at the time. Used to drive me crazy, all it did was make the Amiga look weak.

I'm currently developing a port on the NES. Using a 2MB cartridge and the VRC6 mapper, the game will have great chiptune renditions of the soundtrack and chibified characters like Street Fighter Alpha on Game Boy Color (Mostly to keep a fast and fluid gameplay). I'll also fix the controls and how you perform the moves

I owned both C64 version (US and EU) just because they were both on the same tape, at least in some re-prints (wich I think I got as part of a compilation package). Now, the US version was a pretty pointless game but still a lot better than the atrocious EU version. I don't think the ZX, CPC, ST and Amiga versions play any better: especially the Amiga, what's that, 5 frames per second? And they couldn't even bother implementing the choppy parallax scrolling the ST had! The DOS version seems to be coming from the same mold of the US C64, so I guess it was OK-ish for a DOS fighting game at the time. The PCE seems competent but at the end of the day I'd still play Yie Ar Kung Fu over the first Street Fighter.

Street Fighter 1 set date after Final Fight and before Street Fighter Alpha/Alpha 2 (late 1987, meanwhile Street Fighter II set date started in 1991, but later early 1993 due to 'Super'). The first game was poorly mechanics due to randomly attack over opponent that you can't get '竜巻旋風脚' (Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyakuu) or 'flying dragon kick', punch is rough and you must 'Hadoken' or 'Shoryuken' to finish all opponents instead. The only good conversion is PCE-CD and C64 (American version) to play SF1 home version.

This is painful. The arcade game is really not good, all conversions except the PC Engine one are even worse. I remember getting the game on the Amstrad, thinking how much of a lousy conversion it must be because it’s really horrible (I mean it’s Tiertex) and when I finally played the arcade I thought wow they didn’t do too bad in fact.

@robintst3 жыл бұрын
Fascinating. I knew the Spectrum port wouldn't be much of a spectacle but that direct conversion of it to the Amstrad CPC was pure agony. And we have another fine example of a terrible Atari ST version being itself directly ported to the Amiga with no effort or use of it's superior graphical hardware. You couldn't get much lower in development houses for home ports than Tiertex, this is only worse because the original arcade game was pretty crap to begin with.

No ranking this time because most of the ports are equally bad (Especially ones by Tiertex which are just lazy). The first Street Fighter Game is easily overshadowed by Street Fighter II. I like the new intro, outro and overlay graphics for these videos, but I'm not a fan of those sound effects that can be heard at the start of each and every version clip. They seem intrusive, especially when the games' audio is playing underneath them. I'd honestly rather just hear the game audio on its own with nothing playing over it, even if a version doesn't have any audio, but that's just me.

While I like the SF series in general, I don't care much for SF1. The arcade and PC Engine versions aren't great, but the Amiga one manages to make a lukewarm game downright terrible. "Coding by Tiertex"? Uhoh. That translates into "lousy arcade port ahead". Every fight has the Birdie BGM, and it seems to run at 25 FPS or lower. It's either laziness or a rush job.

PC Engine CD ports made by Alfa System and Hudson Soft by far the best as for the other home PCs, well not the same C64 EU version: look like some cheap Flash game, no sound effect, blocky pixel C64 US by Stephen Rozner (Pacific Dataworks International): fluid animation, detail sprites, have both sound and music in the same time, but still not the best so far. but kudos for Stephen Rozner for better effort ZX Spectrum: clear graphics but no music, even in 128K and faster gameplay. this seem to be an cleaner version of the rest but still not worth Amstrad CPC: the defined graphics are just blue, red and oranges, they just not fit at all. in fact, it really hurt my eyes and far too strong. even worse, no in-game music, slower animation and jerky background scrolling in. and yes, the same problems in the ZX are present MS DOS (Micro Talent): this seem to be an direct port of US C64 version but worse than it. impossible to play with keyboard and the AI are just OP than yours, notice the punches take more damages than your punches. so yea, Micro Talent? more like No Talent Amiga: the worse of them all. slow gameplay, none playability, repetitive music for every stages. but the worst one is the animation! look at it!! single frames of animations?? that not how f**king works with the animation Atari ST: the same problem with Amiga but now faster, chip tunes music, but still worse if not worse than all other ports we all realized that most home computer ports are by the shameless twat of sh*t, Tiertex and Go! Media (not C64 US and DOS). these early day for them are bad, i mean very bad. so yea, if see any game that were on home PC by Tiertex, you know you all gonna f**cked up by them

The EU version is the worst of the two. Sometimes NTSC games were incompatible with PAL machines and vice versa so they made two different games to avoid the problem but the American version of Street Fighter works perfectly fine on a PAL C64, so the EU game shouldn't even exist in the first place.
