Oh man this video takes me back. And the car driving through at the end is classic. "CAR!!!!". PURE JOY. We used to play in the alley behind our house with NO pads and let me tell you when that orange ball was cold, it hurt. I always wanted to be goalie and imitated Ken Dryden. Fun times.

Haha yeah I’ve felt the sting of a street ball in my day. That’s why I padded up for this. Too old for that now 😂

Wow, I had almost the same setup in 7th grade in 1980. The Mylec pads were brown but exactly the same plastic shell. Was great because you could slide towards puck handlers. I had the same blocker and glove with a Rogie Vachon mask. Thanks for the memories.

Yes!! My official FIRST pad set.. The ‘ole’ Mylec leg pads for the inline hockey days! Tried & true design hasn’t faded 20 + years! Love the slow mo effects.. almost like the Wonder Years vibe 👍😎

Doesn’t get any more classic than Mylec. I’ve never seen their chest pad till then but the masks and pads are literally everywhere

Was that Md Media? I love that legendary goalie gear, the colors was just right! Man, this made a 41 yr old go back in memory lane👏🏻
@MrAndyNich3 жыл бұрын
My first set of gear was that mask. A baseball mitt and we cut tan foam from who knows where and ran lace through them for leg pads. May of had a Franklin blocker. It was on the ponds and streets. I thought I was the king of the world when I got some Mattingly goalie gloves and all white Vaughn legacy leg pads probably stuffed with deer hair. I graduated to the big time lol. I think my goaliestick was like a straight blade 100lb vintage wood VIC stick maybe lol. My goalie bag was a plastic sled. This was in Indiana winters.
@BonesyTV3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha love it. Me and my buddies use a baseball glove too. Then we taped a big piece of cardboard over a player glove for the blocker. But my dad and uncle said they did the ole “news paper/ magazine” leg pads on the ponds with that mask. Not a chance I’d do that now 😂

Awww Yisss! Great Nostalgic trip there. I had some of the Mylec gear, as well as some Franklin. One of the kids had those plastic-shell goalie leg pads (kid-sized of course) and everyone wanted to try them out at some point. I started off with a similar face mask but a few good ringers my Dad got me the Mylec mask & cage. Good stuff!! Also: Massachusetts representing!

question, what size is the old school style mask, because i love how it looks but not sure if it will fit my face

I’d say adult size. I have a pretty small shaped head though. The other mask fits a lot smaller
@kevinmorrice10 ай бұрын
@@BonesyTV so would you say the mask is good for someone with a large head edit: ive been looking at the mylecs for that old school vibe, but i saw mixed reviews on the larger mask saying its tight around the side of the head, but the more open mask has that sawchuk era vibe i really like, so im just wondering ig a large head like mine would be fine in it

Never saw white pads in the 70's they were always tan and most of the time they split at the bend after about 2 years. We always used Mylec and Bobby Clarke orange blades, I still have on of the old orange balls never been used.
