@scottskinner5775 жыл бұрын
It sits like the ones that are built for circle track racing. Ive personally never seen them on concrete tracks but i have seen plenty on the IMCA dirt tracks in Texas
@scottskinner5775 жыл бұрын
Wider tires, chop the springs (the cheap way lol) on the left side, camber the right front tire out to help it set into the turn, could further widen the drivers side rear tire, some guys even adjust their brakes to help set up the turns. It gets pretty deep
@scottskinner5773 жыл бұрын
@Stan Lee I'm confused. I'm also not "Wrong" about anything I said. I wasn't quoting specs on this particular car. I was just stating what I know many cars like that do for racing, where I grew up. Hoping it would somewhat answer his question. I mostly listed the cheaper ways to mod them for circle tracking.

Great video as always man. These were some of the best spectator drags I've ever seen. Lots of fast cars with good drivers. I'm also pretty sure I ended up sitting pretty close behind you in the stands. Great work as always.

Carbon Video yeah definitely. It's like the stars aligned for the perfect storm of cars to be out there. The trucks had some good completion as well although Audet and the guy with the Dakota were unfortunately not present there was still a good show. Which both cars and trucks made up for the less than ideal car count in the demo derby side of things. But all in all it was definitely a good night.

Because the inside lane has an advantage, shouldn't the outside lane have like a 1/2 car head start?
@g00dl00kinb0i5 жыл бұрын
Who ever has better grip has the real advantage here, inside lane is only good if both cars are evenly matched which is not as common as you might think....those with superior grip will slide to the inside lane by turn one, that's how most AWD machines win from the outer lane. It's all a draw of the longest straw pretty much...
@nielgregory1084 жыл бұрын
LMAO!! No. lol
@401Impala4 жыл бұрын
@@g00dl00kinb0i The outside lane is a disadvantage no matter which way you try to spin it. It's a longer distance, period. It's a longer distance to turn one, it's a longer distance in general.
@401Impala4 жыл бұрын
@@nielgregory108 Math > You.
@g00dl00kinb0i4 жыл бұрын
@Normal Everyday Dude Actually the distance to turn 1 is exactly the same, the moment they turn into 1 the outside car starts to cover more distance as you said but by then an AWD car can be a car's lenght or two ahead off the start line.....I've seen it here before many times. Guys in the outer lane can also cut the turn going into 1 while ahead, having the better corner apex line and force the inside car to brake more then necessary. But in the end it's about the driver and how much he's willing to push himself and the car, sometimes to a victory or a point of damage.

That 89 Camaro with the Pontiac GTA front end is a great example of built not bought. It handles like a WS6 GTA and obviously makes good power. From the bow in the hood I'd assume it's got a tall intake and is almost certainly carbed . Personally I would have stuck a 2" cowl hood scoop on it. I had to put a 4" cowl scoop to my 89 formula ws6 firebird. The scoop ended up measuring 5.5" and is damn hard to see over (cant see over it at all actually, just have to know where the passenger corner is) it actually works out because the fully built stroker 383 with its performer rpm air-gap intake, 2" carb spacer, nitrous plate and 14x4" filter perched ontop of its opened up holley 750DP it needed all that space just to close and pin down. The best thing about having all that power is that I converted it from an auto (fully built reverse manual valve body th350 lasted 6 weeks) to a T56 6 speed manual with a 0.50 6th gear gives me 19mpg even though you can still feel the comp cams 305h loping at 80 mph. 26" tires and 3.42 gears runs about 2000rpm at 85mph. 45mph in 6th is a lopey ride being about 800rpm. 3.73s would be alot better but a 9" swap with 3.90 gears would be even better. Both my 10.8 second (125 shot) 2002 ws6 T/A 6 speed needs one as does my 10.6 second (on motor) needs one as well since I cant spray the 383 on drag radials with out really risking blowing the 10 bolt apart. Both are still on 7.5" 10 bolt 4th gen rears and they seem to be working just fine so far since I launch weak as hell (2.0 60ft). Stock tpi 305s have killed 10 bolts so I consider myself lucky. Yes despite what ecmverone claimed back when I built the 89 in 2000, I got long tubes to fit with a t56 from a 97 lt1 z28. Other than the massive power increase from the 383 build, the t56 swap was the best mod.
@ShinyKnife6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a awesome setup you have. What kinda of 60 foot times were you getting?
@jonathanhudson46236 жыл бұрын
Shiny Knife: both of my ws6 birds, the 02 trans am and 89 formula firebird are both on factory 10 bolts. The 89 does have a rear end from a 2001 z28 but a tpi305 has killed the older rear ends before so I keep my launches around a 2.0 60ft time just to keep them alive. drag radials and the instant shock from their t56 6 speeds will kill them quicker than anything. These later model (01-02) rears seem to do alot better because I went through 4 rear ends from 3rd gen (82-92 camaros and firebirds) back when the 89 was a TPI 305 running just a 14.2 with a 700r4 automatic transmission. If I had the money both cars would have Dana rears or atleast 8.8" rears. I still worry that I'll be pulling hard in 2nd and as soon as I hit the nitrous its gonna grenade the rear.

It's a optical illusion , if you look at the white finish line there there is a black faded line that runs to the wall. It appears that the stang beat the olds by a mile, but if you slow the video it is really too close to call to the naked eye at real time speed.
