This video was incredible! I love seeing photographers that I admire reviewing photos, and your interaction with Mike is amazing! I'd love to see more content like this not only with Mike, but also with photographers that shoot in different styles to contrast opinions more

YES IGOR! So glad you enjoyed this video/ concept. Plenty more of these to come. The goal will be to have a variety of different photographers talking all things street. Thanks for the support

This would/will be a cool series!! It’s so hard to get good critique on our photos cause most people don’t have a lot of experienced photographer friends. Keep this going and I’ll send over an image to critique :).

Ps I’m also a huge fan of cropping in to make the image better. Sure it’s not a purist way of going about it, but if it makes the image stronger then go for it!
@JamesParsons1 Жыл бұрын
YES ROLAND. That's exactly why we are doing this. Our goal is to build the community and share what we've learnt with the Backdrop gang. We've found its so helpful having others review our images that we just want to share that with others. Thanks for the support man!
@JamesParsons1 Жыл бұрын
I also completely agree with the crop. It's like sculpting from a rock. You've got the raw materials and you are using your creative mind to bring them out. I'd love to see the portfolio of all of these 'purists' who are saying 'YOU SHOULDN'T CROP" and see how they stack up ahaha.

That first B&W shot of the escalators is at the back of Amsterdam Centraal station, looking up from the metro. Nice shot.

Guys, thanks a lot for the great feedback. Let me clarify some thing about the picture I’ve taken (Robbe Van Bael). That image is not a double exposure, it’s basically a staircase that had windows on both sides. I basically created a double reflection shot, and waited for a subject to pass in the light. Thanks for giving feedback guys. Appreciate it.
@JamesParsons1 Жыл бұрын
Unreaal image dude. So cool and thank you for clarifying. What angle were the windows at?
@robbe1502 Жыл бұрын
@@JamesParsons1 Those windows were just there to protect you from climbing over the stairs, and fall off the platform. This location is a train station btw 😁 I remember I climbed the first set of stairs, then you could go left a couple of meters before continuing the next set of stairs. I positioned myself inside the corner, so that the next set stairs became the reflection on top of the image. Then I saw a big patch of light through the window on the other side of the platform. Then waited for someone to walk in the light and essentially create a silhouette.

Main takeaway - most of us need to get something from the Sony A7R series, to crop crop crop. Jokes aside, many thanks to you guys! Really enjoyed the video! Would be great to show a cropped example (as you did for some photos) for every photo, if you say that crop will improve it. I tried to crop my photo, but could not end up with a pleasing composition. 🙂

Ahahah I crop my images hard using the little Fuji and no one bats an eye lid ;) Send it to me via instagram and i'll make a little video for you with the crop I would suggest :)
