What kind of settings have you mapped to your C1-C4 buttons on your Sony? Nice Video!

I know I'm late, but thanks for great advice in this video. I have a question for you: In street photography it's often preferable to use silent shooting mode (electronic shutter). Do you have any experience with this? I know the electronic shutter can create banding in situations with certain artificial lights in the scene, combined with high shutter speeds. There is a youtuber claiming we can't take candid street shots with a wide angel lens on Sony full frame cameras, because of banding. I think this sounds very wrong. As long as it's natural light, I can't think this is a problem. I'm thinking of getting into street photography with my A7CII. I've been shooting landscapes mostly. Do you or others here met such problems using silent mode? Thanks. Subscribed.

Hey Adrien, love the channel and I enjoy your photographic style a lot. One question I have for you as someone coming from Fuji now shooting on the A7IV is, do you work in post a lot to get the colors you want? Fuji has the film simulations which got me where I wanted almost 95% of the time so the SOOC jpegs were very usable to me. With the Sony, I’m finding I don’t like the colors as much. I realize this is a pretty subjective question, however, would like to know your thoughts/process. I know you have presets but being new the the Sony system, I’d like to learn first.

Thanks for your comment really appreciated and I am glad you like my work. There must be a way to set up some profile to get decent colors SOOC even on Sony but to be honest I post process ALL my images. I have my presets that I created over time which fit my style but a more simple edit should also do the job. As always, it takes time to get used to a new system but with time and understanding of how the Sony files work you will be able to have fantastic results without post precessing for hours.

Great content, I wish you would have been a little more in depth with the layout and mapping of the buttons, but it's fine. Just one thing, by experience, the A7IV can go much higher than iso 6400 and still have usable shots. In fact I use it up to 16.000 iso for social media. This will requiere some noise reduction in post but lightroom is totally capable for that ;)

My problem with Apeture Priority is that it might give you too slow a shutter speed! I control the shutter over anything else.

will this settings work for a sony a7rv?
@adriensanguinetti
@adriensanguinetti 2 жыл бұрын
For the most part I think they will work. Certainly the a7rv will have new features but all the settings shown in this video must be there and roughly at the same place in the menu ;)

Alas not valid for A7II because there no minimum shutter speed setting, for 1/125 you need to be in manual mode or "upgrade" to A7III minimum.

Reasonable post, Adrien (except for Auto ISO). Some reverb in audio needs dampening, IMO; perhaps lav mike would help. Bit cheeky to say (in vid title) that your preferred settings are best for everyone 😁. I use similar but not exactly the same settings. To each his/her own. Unless Sony has recently tied auto ISO to Aperture priority by default (something new), ISO and shooting mode are separate variables. You should be able to set shooting mode to Aperture Priority and still have manual ISO, if you prefer. The camera would set shutter speed automatically, not ISO in that instance. The thing that I find annoying about auto ISO is that the camera does not display the ISO value it selects until shutter half-press (when it might be too late to change yourself - e.g., by switching to manual ISO - in fast moving situations). By contrast, when you set the ISO yourself, your chosen value is in the display (if you opt to display ISO at all, of course.) Does that make sense? Do you ever use back button focusing or display the histogram? BTW, noticed that at one point in vid the camera display showed only 9% battery strength. How low do you let the battery get before charging? Hope the heat wave in Japan is over.
